Troops disappearing

Hi, I moved a lot of my troops through a friendly territory (East Algeria) with whom I had 'share intelligence' diplomatic status with. About an hour or two later when I logged in again, all my troops that were in transit (maybe all but 1) had disappeared. I had not received any notices about troops getting destroyed or wars starting. Is this possible?
