Update** it looks like both fighters and bombers are continuing even though the red dot showing the location on the ground has stopped. It looks like the attack is going to include the stats of the fighters outside of their range. That might need to be fixed.
In a current game, an opponent has fighters grouped with bombers and is attacking at the edge of the bombers range which is outside of the fighters range, it looks like the whole group stops at the edge of the fighters range but the time to attack timer is still ticking down like it will attack. What are the mechanics in this situation? I feel like bombers should split off and continue without the fighters, but want to know is actually happening.
i believe fighters have a larger range then bombers so how are you finding that the fighters are outside of their range?

Opposite. Bombers are long range. Fighters are short.
