Goldbug: What is a good strategy for dealing with one?

Another game ruined by a goldbug; that is, someone willing to spend gold to create unassailable stacks which then proceed to squash everything in sight.

I don't Bytro see forbidding or limiting the goldbug. He's waht keeps the game free for the rest of us. But I've recently had more games ruined by a goldbug player than not.

Asside from outbidding the goldbug (by outspending him) or just quitting the game are there any other strategies I'm overlooking? (aside from just moving on to other online games).

It's really frustrating to spend days on a game only to discover that it's been taken over by a goldbug and you and your coalition have no chance of winning.:cursing::cursing:

How about this idea: maybe add a feature so gold spent shows to the other players.

This way the other players may make an informed decision whether to continue playing or to abandon the game thus avoiding days of wasted time.

And take fun away from goldspender to crash noobs? :D nothing helps against heavy gold spenders, all those tactics can throw away.

I think the best approach is to avoid fighting the goldbug head-on. Focus on diplomacy, defensive positions, and let the spender burn resources while you build up. If the gap becomes impossible to overcome, it’s probably better to preserve your time than throw away the whole game.
