Bytro has removed the ability to upload custom flags, images, and modify leader names/titles in Supremacy 1914, citing "player confusion" and a need for "consistency across platforms." Let’s be real, this is a weak excuse and an unfair punishment for everyone.

Why should the entire player base suffer because a few people misused the feature or didn’t understand it? Custom flags and leader names have been in the game for years without issue, making gameplay more immersive and personal. Instead of removing it, Bytro should have improved UI guidance, added FAQs, or strengthened support. If GOs (volunteer / Bytro hired) can’t handle player requests, maybe the problem lies there -- not with the feature itself. Either you replace those who are not doing their job right and/or hire more volunteers. The same justification was used when anonymous news articles were removed, yet it did nothing to improve ticket handling. In fact, support quality either remained the same or got worse.

Their reasoning that mobile never had customization so desktop shouldn't either is absurd. Why take features away instead of adding them? This sets a dangerous precedent. What’s next? Removing other desktop-exclusive features for the sake of “consistency”?

The Supremacy 1914 community thrives on creativity and roleplay. Removing custom flags and names kills a major part of roleplay, diplomacy, and immersion. Bytro should be encouraging player expression, not restricting it. How can players "represent their nation on the battlefield in other ways" when the most effective and creative way to do so has just been removed?

This is bad for the game and bad for the community. Also, this was not even discussed with the community before making this change? We didn't even get a chance to voice out our opinion which is unfair! This is similar when they remove the ability to be anonymous in the newspaper and being able to report and stuff. Bytro is doing the same thing AGAIN

I honestly miss this feature quite a bit. They need to bring it back.

This update is a joke. I return after years to find that the game I loved has turned into a kindergarten—everything is limited and monetized, with new units and other nonsense. At least let me roleplay properly by allowing changes to profile pictures and leader position names. Taking these things away makes the game less fun. Why listen to a few new, confused players instead of the long-time community that has supported the game for years? A joke. I’ll return only when this feature is brought back.

There is a simple solution.

Let the map settings default to original flags, leader pics, and leader names. The player slides the default option to showing all custom flags, leader pics, and names for that particular map, including his own.

If someone is confused by custom pictures and names, don't change the default.

If someone is offended by a custom picture or name on a particular map, set it to the default for the map.

The rest of us get to have fun again.
