I can't get in to Call of War site let alone any games - are the servers down and if so for how long?

Thanks for the reply, I will cross my fingers that it isn't something too serious.

In some instances, if the down time is bad enough, they will revert the maps to a time before the down time. This "rolls back" time and can ruin sneak attack plans if the timing lines up that way.

Free Time looks good on me

So the stacked I nuked could still be there ?

going on 4 hours plus now still nothing i would say a 5 hour roll back would be fine

Waiting

While that would be ideal, it is an optimistic outcome and probably won't happen (timing the rollback to the exact moment the game crashed). If a rollback does occur, I think it will be farther back using "saved" data (back to last game-day reset...either from earlier today or yesterday) which can really change a game to benefit the losing side.

The worst rollback that I have experienced was for a full week...it ruined most, if not all my games and was awful.

I am sys admin and php full stack developer myself. In fact a senior. I spend quite a lot in this game for educational purposes :-) or just to relax from my hard work. Most likely this game runs on php and mysql. Using php-fpm it is hard to bring down an environment, additional I see there is the use of a reverse proxy nginx. There are some good articles online how to chain php-fpm and mysql in several instances as failover. When Your servers are down for more then 4 hours, this means the setup of your servers are not done in a good manner. We do live in times where you have high avail of servers, failover and database replication. Additional. In a virtualised env You are up and running in no time. I know one thing. If I do lose gold or I do lose my current tactical position due to a rollback, I quit spending. Gamers should not pay for the lack of a decent server management. Sorry.

UGH I have been waiting and waiting ,my page does not load In general let alone allow me to check which games of mine work. :tumbleweed: :wallbash

I just hope we don't get back on piece meal. Like the players I am fighting get on, but not me! :P

Every action is recorded in a database, when done right it is transactional. A rollback is a rewind of one or more transactions in the database. As gamer you notice time has stalled or is rewind to previous positions, like you take back

steps on a chess board. So this can be good or bad. Depends the position you had at the moment of the crash, as there is a possibility you can lose gold, i presume on actions you took between the original and the new position, if there is not a good track record. And the last thing makes me pretty nervous.

Ok so I accept that sometimes issues cause things to crash BUTTTTTTT wouldn't it be reasonable (and good customer service practice!) for one of the COW team to Post on here at least every hour to give an update of progress and if possible an eta of return!

Hopefully, they can reboot the game to the last game reset (5pm CST earlier today)...if not, the rollback will have to go back even farther. It wont be the exact moment of the server crash. Unless systems, backups and processes have improved in the past couple years (which would mean this long downtime never happens), I'm worried the fix might be "ugly." I can't remember if there is a way to refund spent gold or not in previous rollbacks.

It is 6am right now in Hamburg Germany. I assume (hope) an update, or better yet a fix, will come in a few hours.

Over six hours and it is still down. Hope it'll be up when I get up in the morning.

ok main page is up i can see my games and click to open but they wont load at 7.5 hour mark

Same here. so probably for everyone

Game seems to load but doesn't really open the servers.

"Achtung! Panzer!"

Mine wont load but now it i a blank white page instead of 502 error.

6+ hours is really long for a game

6 hours is a long time to be down dread to think what state my games are in :-(

I still cant gain access either...very upsetting to say the least

The Modern Combat launch is probably what screwed up the servers...lol....

Well now it shows 502 server error...well not bad gateway now...maybe making progress"""??????
