Attacking army without contact

Without contact enemy army attacked my artillery. Event there is another army protecting them. How is this possible???

It is like that because the defending army is a little behind the arty. Next time combine them.

Did you paid attention to the screenshot but my defending army is at front of the artillery. My army is the 1 with medium tank.

I know. All battles are like that. The gap is no man's land and the arty is more or less on the frontline right now.
