Battleship stats aren't correct compared to my others

Hello; I have several Level 1 battleships and they all have the same fairly good attack and defense stats. After building a Level 2 battleship those same stats show as a fraction what the Level 1's are. ?? Is this a temporary glitch or what? A level 2 Battleship is not cheap!
