Chat is currently going through some problems. We've alerted the developers. Sadly, we have not been given a timeline for a fix as of yet. The issue does seem to be affecting some users. For now, try using Firefox instead of Chrome. Also, clicking in the typing box clears the problem of the chat being stuck in highlight mode (most of the time).
