cannot attack moving targets?

So right now I have a submarine squad chasing a convoy ship sending troops to cuba, but because the convoy ship is moving, the only thing the sub can do is follow it, if i set it to attack, it only goes to the position the convoy ship was at, and because the ship is moving it just moves away and the sub doesnt track with it and catch up to it. Are you not allowed to attack moving targets?

I am having the same issue with submarines and units of countries that I am at war with just being able to pass through them without the sub firing a shot in addition to the sub not being able to continue chasing down a unit it has been ordered to attack.

Also, I do not understand how unescorted transport ships with 0 strength rating are able to do any damage at all to a submarine let alone affect its Morale at a faster rate than the sub is to the transports.

any admin response to this?

Submarines don't track. Rather than using the "Attack" command button, select an anticipated destination or route of the target and send the sub along it. Subs travel at 30 km/h and transports travel at 27km/h...it might catch-up. If it can meet the transports as they're disembarking...good times.

Transports *do* have a defense value vs subs...it's small but given each transported unit has 5 Hit Pts (HP), the battle can be long enough for the transport to do some defending counter damage.

It has been mentioned on the German forums as well. There seems to be some bug with submarines? If they and an enemy cross each other they won't open fire but just move on. No matter what stand from high command you use. Also I noticed that if you position submarines in front of the enemies moving towards you then they may open fire on the enemy at the moment the enemy passes by, but only if the subs are in that position for some time (at elast an hour I think).

I've failed to sink loads of unprotected transportships last month because of unwilling submarines.

Azakhan that is my problem also. prepositioned submarines to interdict shipping lanes of enemy transports, and the boat floats on by without any shots being fired. It should do the same as land units and once locked into the combat, not just allowed to slip by undetected

IPatton, it wasn't a matter of sending it to attack then the unit not being there, but it laying in ambush along the transports route and not firing at it at all as it passed through.

So is the answer that subs can only fire on transports that are (dis)embarking?

No DxC, they will attack if they are laying in ambush, but only if they have been there for a certain amount of time. Same for units (dis)embarking, they will attack if the subs have been resting there for a certain amount of time.

Subs don't need to stay for a certain amount of time, but they do need to just not be moving. Having a move order automatically overwrites attacking a passerby ship. Sort of like how ships won't fire on anything in their range if they are already moving
"A knight cannot save the world. They call certain methods of fighting good and others evil, acting as if there were some nobility to the battlefield."
"Honor? Glory? There's no point in speaking to a killer who indulges in such nonsense."
"It's a crime we call victory, paid for by the pain of the defeated"

Even if they are on "agressive stand" from high command? Like I said in a previous post, the subs won't attack if I put them in front of the enemies ships, the enemies ships will just pass over them, unless my subs have bene in position for a certain unknown amount of time.

So the "Defending Strength" stats apply for sub if it's stationary? When does attacking stats apply?

The defect of the "agressive stand" also limits the submarines defensive capabilities. Now players that have detected my subs can just shoot them with their ships from a distance. If "agressive stance" would work, my subs would move to them and fight back instead of just being destroyed.
