During Plane Patrol - ships suck planes down

I had this air group together Fighting a Cruiser and A destroyer, attacking overhead (I had a cruiser and destroyer as well on the sea.) Watch it do its first attack and strart return flight back to Anakara airbase. I leave it and go back to work. Come back 3 hours later to check what had happened, and my entire flight of planes is now a truck trying to get back to shore with 2 subs attacking them. At this critical juncture in the game, this is the kind of bug that makes me leave a game for good.
