Why is the penalty so high when I’m the biggest nation on the map.

(Not anymore I’m probably dead i just got attacked by 4 nations.)

It's because you're the biggest nation. As your nation gets larger, the expansion penalty increases.

Hi,

not surprisingly I learned about this game mechanics at the moment it startied crushing my empire. I would appreciate a more tangible info about the penalty. I read "because you are the largest nation" in some places, and "as you grow the expansion penalty grows" in others and it is confusing. How is the "size" of the mepire count? Number od provinces, VPs, apparent size on the map? I had considered "distance from capital penalty" to be THE penalty paid for expansion. In which way is the expansion penalty different? Of course, I would love a formula, but I will appreciate even qualitative explanation.

Just move your capital closer to your newly conquered territory. This will help your morale. Your morale will slightly start to drop in your cores however so you will need to build propaganda offices in your core cities.

You cannot have 70%. That will lead to a victory, even if you are the only one in a coalition. No matter what you do, 70% of the map will not be possible to have,
