Ghost soldiers

Game 1068930: I have two persistent 'ghost' formations in Danzig, a 2-man infantry regt and a 2-gun antitank regt. Both are shown with infantry icons. They seem to have been created when I reorganised a mixed stack in the city. I had logged out of the game and the midnight day's end had passed, but when I logged in again they were still there.

Game 1068836 - the ghosts of the Spanish 19th Infantry Division are currently haunting Turin (after a reorganisation)...morale is rising despite this!

This could be an issue of unit reports outliving their usefulness, which commonly happens in S1914 and this game as well from my experience. For example, after destroying the garrison at Marseilles there remains a single infantry unit on the map as a result of the information my tactical bomber had gathered while bombarding the area not being up-to-date now that some time has passed. Unit reports (from spies and aerial reconnaissance etc.) are easily identified by the espionage icon that shows up when the mouse is hovering over the units in question, so if this is a bug rather than a mechanics issue it should be just as easily identified.

Given that Im Spain and the ghost army is Spanish, that isnt the case

ive had this when some of my units have been destroyed, but ive also seen it when enemy planes bombing my cities enter an area i cant see on the way to my cities.

i had a destroyer near the city the aircraft was coming from (just a fighter) then over the coast was my city, when the fighter entered an area of ocean i didnt have LOS too a ghost fighter and bomber i had previously destroyed appeared at the enemy airfield, and disapeared when the fighter came close to my city.

perhaps its some manipulation of this mechanic, the game thinks its still there but you just cant see it,

There were (are?) issues with armies remaining visible after they were actually removed. E.g. killed planes, merged armies, etc.

We have fixed some of these problems but I will have to check, if this version is live already.

Sent 8 bombers to this city and now I have 4 ghost units.

I (Turkey) am fighting ghost soldiers from Yugoslavia in Varna and Ploesti.

Order your stuck units to attack the ghosts. If that doesn't work, split your stack and order the newly split stack to attack. That should get rid of those spooky dudes.

Yep, currently have 8 light tanks being held up in Satu Mare from joining the actual fight by the spectral remains of an armor column that is forever cursed to march toward Debrecen without ever reaching their destination ... and waylaying the living with their eternal march (game 1209673).
