Guns set to attack

What has happened to guns being set to be aggressive??? I had a huge stack set to defend and attack my enemy. I knew he was going to attack while I went to bed. My 8 rail guns did not fire at all while my opponent just sat there with his artillery (shorter range) blew my stack away. Nothing worse than playing a map for 28 days only to lose because the settings for unit aggressiveness no longer works!!!!!
