Yes!
If it ain't broke, don't fix it
Wtf are you trying to achieve with all these crazy updates. 1.5 is becoming THE joke of an original awesome idea. All my units are now CARDS on the map ??? Am I supposed to play Gin Rummy now ? Please stop with these unrealistic updates !

I completely agree.
Reason for the change is to present the information in a more orderly and clean way (the old way of attaching army info to unit images was unprofessional and pixelated), and to also include additional information that was not shown before (like hitpoints and additional army status info).
At the heart this is a strategy game and not an action game, so displaying units as abstract symbols on higher zoom levels, like on a strategic NATO map that Generals use, should imo not be a divisive change.
We of course listen to your feedback and look forward to improving this feature in future updates. So please keep giving us feedback, but civil. Feedback like "this sucks, change it back" does not help since we have no plan to change it back.
Hope you help us improving the feature and that you get used to it. As I said it has increased functionality so if used right it should give you a better overview than before.
Freezy,
I love the way the map looks when I zoom out but I do not like the way the new units look. That being said I think its a good start at what could come, what I think would look good is the old unit models with the new stats on the side of it or underneath it. Keep up the good work.

People complain about anything. Can't please everyone. This new update on unit cards is probably more realistic than you think. Most World War Two maps are hard to follow if you are not properly trained to understand what different shapes mean but take a look at these two images for comparison... Bytro just made it more gamer friendly is all.

Oh hell no, the game itself is not a situation map. You can't compare these two. Bryto just doesnt get it, it keeps loosing these players over stupid updates, that make no sense for a daily player nor the game. Do you guys even play ???
How do you know they are losing players?
Situation map is exactly the realism that this game is going for. Strategic maps are what drew players like myself to this game.
I don't need them to delete the update... I would just like the devs to create a toggle card on/off switch. I don't want to have to toggle to low graphics mode.Tribunate wrote:

Because we started out with a large group, over 50 and now only two are left, including me, and let me tell you, we are tired of these weird updates. I have met plenty of players during my game time, played over and over with them .. all gone by now. Seriously, no one wants this game to end up looking like a board game on screen. If yes, screw it and I get my old Risk game back out. The last two of us, also gone after our current game is done. This game will not survive after this pandemic.Tribunate wrote:

Of course we play, I personally honestly enjoy the new labels much more. Maybe you just have to get used to it? Or if you dont like it switch to low graphics mode. I am sorry that I cant provide another solution now, hope you keep playing though.sweetinnocent wrote:

We actually intend to visualize both: When you are zoomed in you are in the more tactical detailed view, in the nitty gritty "action" so to speak. But when you are zoomed out we want to provide the feeling of being in a strategic planning view, like a general before a war table.

That is one game on one map. Sure I've had maps where only 2-3 players were left at the end... but I've also had maps where 12+ were left.
At the end of each round you will find that people will go inactive when they begin to lose or have a major setback. This is just the name of the game.
All in all you can't tell the total activity of CoW based on one round. That isn't enough.
Turning on low graphics mode removes the little cards and leave you with the units fyi
Yes, I know if I switch to low graphics the "cards" are gone. No one likes this "card look", as far as I've talked to other players, why dont you switch the new card update to low graphics setting ? If you change this, make it an option and not a must. Where is my choice ? You are willing to take my money for high command and gold packages, but I can't choose if I want these upgrades or not.
Well by adding these useless changes they can pretend they are adding something. They should focus on real issues not on these dumb things which nobody likes.
Please make it an option to have the cards as troops, not make everybody have to have them. They look bad and when you zoom out all the way you canβt even see your troops at all. Instead of doing updates like this you should be focusing on adding new troops or making the maps more detailed. Alaska looks like a hand with 4 fingers right now.
I am not talking about a game, I mean in the beginning we started with a large group of family and friends, who had friends, who also played, it was way over 50. I took a long break after 1.5 rolled out in masses. I was talking about my experiences, the ones I started out with and played along the way .. we were a truckload, now its down to 2. Game wise, one lvl short of Master Sergeant, 30 coalition and 10 solo wins. Is not a lot, but I am not new.Tribunate wrote:

Its so irritating, Also you cannot even see the units from a short distance and it looks like cancer, there is no "strategic meaning" to it and it doesn't even look good, freezy wrote:

Your player count will soon drop
You are all entitled to your opinion when it comes to what you like and dislike about new updates but PLEASE stop with this horse shit about "the game dying" and "losing players" just because you are not in favour of a certain change.
It makes you look like a total moron who doesn't know what they are talking about which completely invalidates the credibility of your opinion.
Heh, I had the "WTF are they talking about" feeling when finding this thread, until I realized I was using the old interface anyway))) So I switched it for a moment to WebGL, and immediatly realized again why I'm using the old GUI... it is so damn ugly! Just come join me, it is the second button under settings, it is much prettier anyway, and vital info like province names is displayed all the time!
