I am trying to get into a Pacific Conquest Game, which is being advertised as the current scenario. I watched all day today and only one game at a time is available and when one comes available for the first time there are 30 or 40 choices already taken. Am I at the back of some invisible queue?
also, while I'm at it, I wish there was a way to check to see if a countryI want to play is available without being "Joined" in a game.

In Pacific Conquest, it doesn’t matter which nation you start as, because they’re pretty balanced.
i haven’t seen this though - all you have to do is wait until a pacific game is full, then a new one will start up with 0 people and you should have your pick of countries.
As for your last point - yes this can be annoying. You can get round this by clicking ‘join’, then seeing which countries are available. If there are no countries you want which are available, just wait 30 minutes on that page, and it’ll kick you off that game without joining a country.

You can also just close the game, it kicks you out fully in 15 minutes anyway.

I tis annoying that the first 80-90% of the slots fill up in the first five minutes and then it takes hours to wait for a new game to open up because no one wants the last ones.

There is no loss, it doesn’t even stay on your games joined list. It’ll be as if nothing even happened.

Well to be fair who would? It’s hard to think of a solution for that.

Why not start the game with a few AIs? Put more games available until the fast joining slows somewhat? I think both of these remedies would help. In fact, I think they do exactly that with Europe, Clash of Nations.

That just won’t work… clash of nations doesn’t start with any AIs lol? Except the default ai countries

Turn countries into AI if people don’t join fast enough? If that’s what you’re mean, I don’t know about that. Doing such a thing would lead to lost games not being full with players and could have unintended consequences.
