Map stretched vertically

Ever since today's update the maps have seemed to be stretched vertically on desktop.

Not a bug.

The map view got unstretched now. The map was actually artificially shortened in the north-south direction (or stretched in east-west direction). That meant that when your troops moved north or south they traveled less pixels per minuteon the screen than when traveling east to west. Also it made ranged circles appear as elipses on the screen. We removed this artificial stretching so now in all direction it's the same distance, and circles are perfectly round. The rational is that you can better anticipate distances and ranges in the game because every range is now a completely round circle and unit travel paths are the same distances on the screen no matter if north-south or east-west. So gameplay has become more accurate.

Ok, thanks for the explanation. The circles now look like ellipses in the opposite direction but I guess it will take some time to get used to it. I did notice the map was squished north-south before, so thanks for fixing.

Uhh yeah, maybe the map looks ok in some games, but the game I'm playing now has egg shaped range circles. Maybe a combination of some old and some new resources? The game started before the update.

They should be perfectly round now on your screen if you measure them.

Can you post a screenshot plz? Also are you playing on desktop?

Yes, the problem is on desktop, not on mobile. I'll try to post a screen shot. It's not hard to reproduce :)

the image seems to be broken, I see nothing :D

When you create a new Post you can upload an image in the forums by clicking on "attachements", then "upload". Make sure the file is below 2MB.

I did all that, and the attachment failed. Then I tried to copy paste directly into the post, and that seemed to work, but then it didn't.

The bug continues to appear on new maps, by the way. Started a Pacific map two days ago. Egg shaped range circles.

Can you try it? Start a new map in a Chrome browser on a Chromebook. The most vanilla setup ever.
