Maps at night

I don't know whether this was added in to the game and just no one was told but when i logged on to my world map game every thing was dark and i have allies all around the world. at first i thought they where trolling me but as i look i saw that even my homeland was covered by the FOG (fog of war). the only thing removing the fog of war is troops. Now i don't know if it is a new feature in which if you play at night( and i was playing at night) every thing but troops are dark. no idea can anyone help me. this is kind of weird thanks

so i let the game sit for a minute and now it back to normal but what happened and what my have caused this?
