NEED TO RELOAD GAME BEFORE COMMANDS TO UNITS TAKE EFFECT?

This morning I got a message to reload the game because it had been improved. After I clicked ok and reloaded it it seems like none of my commands to units are taking effect until after I reload the game. This is the same in both my current games 532777728 and 5366502 and checking the Community screen I didn't notice any announcements that had been posted about any new game updates. Have you been hacked? It's very inconvenient to have to reload the game every time I send a command to a unit.
