I wonder if the app lost connection to the server while you were trying to do that. Does it work properly now?
You may also need to clear the cache. Steam does have cache that is well hidden, but these steps should allow you to find it.
To clear your browser cache and cookies on Steam:
To clear cache on Steam:
1) Open the Steam app (Not the Call of War Steam app)
2) Open the steam menu in the upper left corner
3) Select Settings
4) select "Web Browser" from the menu
5) Select "delete web browser cache"
6) In rare cases you may also need to "delete all browser cookies" as well
