Patrolling planes do not deal damage to enemy planes attacking a target within range

Hello,

I can confirm this no longer works, so maybe I missed something in release notes.

Scenario is that you have your planes patrolling. Within their patrol range is either your ground unit, or another stack of planes patrolling. Stack of enemy planes is not patrolling, but directly attacking that 2nd stack of yours, either ground units or another stack of planes. What I expect, and it has been working that way, is that when enemy planes perform the attack, your first stack of patrolling planes would deal damage to attacking enemy planes.

I can confirm in two different rounds that this no longer happens. In one case I had several stack of planes patrolling behind one stack of patrolling strategic bombers. Obviously, center of patrolling strats was within patrolling circles of my other planes. Enemy fighters attacked my strats and only took defensive damage from strats, not form any other plane, while strats took full damage, usually damage would be less due to damage enemy fighters would take when attack happens.

Another case happened today in Doomsday round. Enemy nuke bomber was attacking empty province, as I managed to get troops out. I had 2 stack of fighters patrolling over the province town in order to destroy the atomic bomber, with far more damage then bomber can take. Explosion still happened and damaged my fighters since they were in range.

So, did I miss something or is this a bug? I thought I read in last notes that this was fixed, that previously double damage was dealt in this case, but maybe it is not this case I describe. Is this a bug, or from now on I can only shoot down planes directly

When you click on the patrolling planes, you will see a countdown timer in the information section. If it does not receive direct damage from the enemy before the timer runs out, it will not cause any damage. Do not trust the patrolling planes in this regard. If you think you can easily close the game if you have patrolling planes, it doesn't work that way.

yes, they deal 50% of damage on every patrolling circle, which should be 15 minutes on normal speed. But you definitely could protect your troops like this from bombers. Like leave artillery cowered during night. Now you always need AA guns, and fighters are only good if you see enemy planes and can react right away. I get that now everyone needs AA guns, but people might simply chose not to have fighters anymore, which kinda makes no sense.

Also when was this changed? This is from release notes from week ago: "We've also fixed an issue where patrolling planes would incorrectly deal defensive damage twice when an attacking plane targeted ground units within splash damage range. This has been adjusted so that defensive damage is only applied once per attack."

I thought this is addressing a bug in same mechanic. I guess I was wrong...
