Planes died for no reason

I used war bonds to show the troops in an enemy city and then I launched 5 tactical bombers and 3 interceptors (levels 6 and 5 respectively) and split up my big fleet at the same time. All the carriers stayed in the same group and the enemy city's forces were super weak (level 2 light tank level 1 infantry level 3 naval bomber) but my planes just died in the air before they even attacked. (At the same exact time too) Unsure why. By the way, the carriers stayed in the same place as before and I just split off some other ships(I'm France)
