Planes not moving with Carriers

Why are my planes going in to truck transportation mode when I launch them from carriers to do scouting patrol or move to a land airbase?

Some times they go in to truck mode when I move the carrier.

These are Interceptors/fighters and Naval Bombers and I'm not trying to move them beyond their range. The carriers have a limit of 5 atm and I am not overloading them. Last instance I wanted to patrol with a fighter and when I clicked it and the 2 naval bombers on the carrier reverted to trucks after I split the stack and selected patrol for the fighter.
