That's completely correct then. The upgrade cost is 50%.
Possible Bug Regarding Upgrade Costs
I researched level 2 armored cars. When I go to upgrade my armored cars it says it costs 485 manpower (per unit) to go from lvl 1 to lvl 2. I've done this before and don't remember it costing so much.
When I look at the stats on the tech tree, lvl 1 costs 900 and lvl 2 costs 970. I'm playing as Comintern by the way.

Oh, wow. I thought it had something to do with the difference in cost. Thanks for confirming.
This starting manpower is still throwing me off. I still say it makes no sense to cost so much manpower to upgrade. It's not like the unit is recovering health by upgrading.
Game design choice/simplified rule. Maybe they will elaborate on this to promote the use of various units more.
In that case I would be interested in producing units below my actual maximum tech level.NoobNoobTrain wrote:

Well, you normally cannot do that.
Besides, I don't think it pays. Manpower is one of the scarcest and expensive resources. So you really don't want to spent 150% manpower on something that is maybe just 20% better.
I understand simplifying things, but they've used common sense with other aspects of manpower. For instance, manpower is unique in that you cannot trade for it on the market. I just think it should be different with upgrading as well.NoobNoobTrain wrote:

I agree with you if they perfected the game. Manpower cost should be a variable share depending on the increase in the cost/effectiveness factor. If you run the maths as it is now, some units are very overpriced and a number are underpriced.
But I think Bytro looks more into the use of units and discount the ones they find to be under-utilised. That's a game design choice.
