It does not affect mechfantry.
Reduction of armor strength in urban combat environment
According to their unit spec sheets, all motorized/self-propelled armor units -- i.e., armored car, light tank, medium tank, heavy tank, tank destroyer, self-propelled artillery and self-propelled AA units -- have a reduced strength of 50% when they engage in combat inside urban areas, and this manifests itself in the form of a 50% reduction in hit points when these units are present within the major cities shown on the map. In the past, I have relied on this trap for the unwary to more easily kill enemy armor units with tactical air, artillery or rockets, and until recently the rule has been uniformly applied to all motorized/self-propelled armor units. In the last several days, however, I have noticed that the 50% strength reduction in urban areas has only been applied to tanks, and not tank destroyers and SP artillery and SP AA units (see game no. 1565612).
Please take a look at this and see what is going on.
Thanks.

No, QD, the 50% strength reduction rule does not affect mechanized infantry -- perhaps because they are infantry and they can fight dismounted from their armored personnel vehicles in urban environments. That said, the problem I described above -- that the 50% strength reduction rule is not being applied to tank destroyer, SP artillery and SP AA units in urban combat environments per their spec sheets -- apparently exists and needs to be addressed.Quasi-duck wrote:

Could you provide a screenshot? Checked the game but couldn't find any of those units you mention in an urban zone.MontanaBB wrote:

Oh, hm, my eyes seem to have put the words "mechanised infantry" into your original post. My apologies.
Unfortunately, Nemuritor, I was busy killing a tank destroyer unit in urban combat before the daily update, and did not report this problem until afterward. Yes, I probably should have had the presence of mind to take a screenshot -- BUT I was focused on getting my 10% morale boost before the witching hour!nemuritor98_ wrote:

That said, this is not the first time I have noticed this issue in the last several days. I will look around the two games I'm playing currently and see if I can other examples and provide a screenshot. In the worst case scenario, I will move a couple of my own SP arty and SP AA units into a city to provide the example. I don't have any tank destroyer units, though.
Cheers.

Do you indeed see that there is no strength reduction, or do you mean the HP?
Because tank destroyer, SP-AA and SP-Artillery have 50% less strength, but they always keep their full HP.
