Ship-Armored Land Units Receiving Amplified Dmg

There seems to be a bug concerning land units when they gain ship armor such as when they turn into convoys, but it also seem to affect them even if they're still embarking.

Dmg values against units who fit the descriptions above seems to be amplified.

Just now, I attacked a lvl1 convoy with 1 lvl 1 destroyer. I'm playing as Comintern so I expected I'm gonna need several ticks to kill the convoy since it has 10hp while a lvl1 Comintern DD only deal 2.3 dmg vs ships. Both of them were attacking and defending simultaneously so I thought I'd take 1 dmg and deal 4.6 in return but to my surprise, the DD one-shotted the convoy, taking 0.7 dmg.

A similar thing also happened days before, same game.

I was attacking an embarking infantry with a lvl1 cruiser. They only do 1.4 dmg to land units and 3.6 vs ships, but as you can see, it halved the inf's hp. This was just 1 instance of attack, 7.4 vs a land unit from a lvl1 Comintern cruiser.

These overblown dmg values only inflict land units in convoy form or are embarking. If they're just at land not embarking, the dmg inflicted is the same as listed in the info tab of the attacking unit.

Ships & subs themselves doesn't seem suffer from this when attacked by other ships or sea planes. Dmg values normally reflect the stats of the attacking units.

Uncertain about sea planes. I think they also do crazy dmg but cannot confirm.

Same with land units when they attack convoys and embarking enemies, can't confirm.

Because ships themselves aren't affected, maybe the bug is rooted in the armor change process of land units when they turn into convoys, from unarmored/ligh/armored to ship.

As for the embarking units, maybe the game misclassifies them as ship-armored hence the same outrageous dmg values.

Sea planes also kill embarking units with crazy dmg.

This embarking med tank was killed by a single patrol tick of a lvl2 sea plane.

I experienced this yesterday too! I caught a neutral player moving troops across the sea towards me and opened fire. I had one Comintern cruiser and it downed in one shot a three unit sea convoy, then I had a two cruiser stack do the same thing to a six unit sea convoy. I didn't think it would go well for him to send that much unescorted against me, but I didn't think it would be that easy to drop them either. All cruisers were lvl 1.

Yea it's straight busted, I mean a full hp med tank literally got killed by a single patrol tick of a sea plane.

Really makes you think twice about naval invasions.

Yeah, one of the units I sank was a medium tank. Really that shouldn't matter, any ground unit as a sea convoy will have the same stats based on your Transport Ship technology level. I was just glade I caught in as a sea convoy instead of on land.

That's really weird... cause I had aqn issue with transports being WAY too strong earlier. I mean, a sub actually LOST to a transport-only convoy, I think they were about 3-4 strong but not too sure on that.

On the slightly related issue of trucked planes from a destroyed air base, an armored car (taking an air strip) recently LOST to two trucked airplanes, which is slightly ridiculous I'd say.

I also saw weird combat results involving embarking/disembarking troops, for example subs being beaten by embarking troops in REALLY long fights, or land units losing against disembarking troops, which should really happen only against overwhelming odds by invaders imho.

I think Bytro really needs to look into the code and test combat results for units off their normal ground:

- land units in transport ships on open sea;

- land units in transport ships, disembarking, against sea units;

- land units in transport ships, disembarking, against land units;

- land units, not yet in transport ships, embarking, against sea units;

- land units, not yet in transport ships, embarking, against land units;

- planes in trucks.

The med tank I showed above was just embarking when it got killed by a sea plane patrol tick. It was still on land so it had 40hp with heavy armor.

Thanks for the report, I forwarded it to QA for testing.

It sounds more like a result of balancing and not a result of bugs? It can totally happen that a sub loses to multiple transports, or an armored car loses to multiple airplane trucks. Just compare the damage & HP values of both armies to see if there is actually any bug involved or if it is simply how units are balanced.

One detail to notice is the transporter tech. I guess most players never research transports, but I do, and they gain a significant extra HP.

Well this way 15 days ago...

Just experienced the joy of this glitch today with a 2500Hitpoint army embarking THEN disembarking due to an approaching fleet (not yet in fleet stance). Guess what instakilled it ? 6 lvl 2 submarines dealing a total of 55 damage (I checked the stats with spy Gold instantly thinking it was 100 submarines).

The submarines were hugging the coast where my entire army was first on an embarking stanced that I cancelled in the middle, they never had the "boat" stats/stance.

An entire game thrown, im pissed

Well to be honest, when you ship THAT kind of army. you should make sure you have control of the seas.

... What a dumb asumption to add to the frustration of getting stomped by a glitch ...

Is that control enough over a 10mn travel to land on the other side ? +19 rail guns obliterating anything coming in range (2 fleet already sunk and 2 opposing army killed a long range). I planned that for a while, but thanks a lot for your great advice -.-

Well this must be really deep in the game... an L1 naval bomber can't spot subs then anymore.

I've got the same issue. Massive 14 unit invasion (with the transports all being max level), stopped in one tick by 2 low-level subs. . ._.

This is certainly a glitch and a very major one at that. @freezy I've seen a lot of people report glitches on here since I joined, and this one affects by far the most amount of people and is the most critical to fix.
