Something wrong with the market?
Am I seeing something incorrect here?
Why would someone want to buy something more expensive than is already available on the market?
Or trading system confused?

Because reasons...seeing between buy and sell the seller wants a big profit while the buyer wants goods in a better price, although there's nothing wrong here the prices are actually quite decent.

You also have to figure that most of the stuff sold on the market is from AI nations.
Also when your at war with another nation you can't buy or sell stuff from those nations.
Ex.
Italy attacks Austria.
If Austria is selling Goods for 3 dollars. Everyone else can buy it but Italy cannot so they put in a buy price of 5$ cause they cannot buy from Austria
