Have split Poland (between me and Germany, who is almost dead), finished off Romania, and Turkey. Currently invading Persia. Then I will invade Xinjiang, the remnants of Yugoslavia (possibly), India, and in general focusing on Asia while holding a strong defense in Europe. I mean, with my economy right now, I can spam anything
Soviet Union HWW Playthrough
Hi, I'm back, have been busy recently.
I have a game as the Union going right now. Day 5, France has 590 VP, I have 410. I have developed quite an insane economy so far, with everything above 1200/hr and oil surpassing 1500. While he is quite substantially ahead, I do have a 50% bigger economy, (16% vs 10%). We are currently in a agreement not to attack each other and to split the world. Only USA (330 VP), and Brazil (180 VP), and my new "ally" (right of way-shared intelligence) are really serious.
I am planning on soloing this game, and this agreement with Australia is temporary until I surpass France.

Why is it that I feel against an active Germany, USSR almost always loses?
Or (and this is what I think), am I seriously messing up?
I have a plan: Get dozens of level 1 infantry and use the upgrading trick
I will also be upgrading my non double-resource cities, as I have either maxed them out or are about to
Well, it depends. The Soviet economy should be at least double that of Germany. Sure, germany has tanks, but that can be neutralized with AT guns. As for the airforce, spam a few interceptors. mass up artillery to counter enemy artillery and deal damage. Make sure to have quick mot inf or LT response groups if Germany decides to detatch their Motorized infantry and rush for siberia. If Soviet goes AI or is barely active, I agree Germany should win.CommanderRhino wrote:

Same with France, isn't he screwed if Germany attacks on Day 1? Poland ESPECIALLY?
Yeah about Poland, just pray. France is screwed as well, but Germany usually does not send all their troops and take them out instantly. A key thing for France is to ally with Italy. They only have one border to worry about, and Italy can launch a surprise attack
A competent USSR player can easily defeat a German one by day 4, the economic difference by then had paid off.

Um why is this in bug reports?
Yeah, but you dont get competent players usually for any of the countries.Carking the 6th wrote:

As a result of a rapid mobilization, I have gained 60 units in the past 24 hours, with 30 more coming, surpassing 200 troops.
My plans are to strike Italy and her colonies as well as Xinjiang.
I love doing that in the USSR.

yeah, I am still quite a bit behind France, who has rampaged most of Europe and UK. But he will be limited in his options soon, while I still have Xinjiang, Tibet, Mongolia, and Manchukuo to attack. He might attack me later, so I will be building up troops to defend.
My economy is truly superb now, oil is 1570/hr (used to be 1600/hr, but I got some tanks)
France may have more points, but your economy and army is likely better, he is more stretched out. I was once rather inactive in a USSR game, sitting and just making units. Spain was playing conquest and took over nearly all of Europe. I waited with a huge army and then struck his damaged 200 units with a full health 300, which were higher leveled and more concentrated than his army, which had forces in other areas as well. Easily took him and all of Europe over.

Not sure about the army, but yes the economy is bigger. 300,000 tons to 233,000 tons, about 25% more. I will be upgrading single-resource cities now. My army is probably still at least a bit weaker, but that should change in the 2 days until day 8. Also, does anyone know how the percentages are calculated for army strength in the newspaper?
They take the highest possible damage values for each unit and add them together. Can be inaccurate as 20 interceptors will do more than 20 AA, for example.

A 1v1 between Germany and Soviets, both with good players, would be interesting to see. I have never seen it happen.
I can't tell what would happen. Soviets have a better economy, but Germany will take lots of capitals in Europe, and starts with a superior army. Most of Soviet's cities are in the west close to Europe -- lose those and he's screwed. But Germany will more likely be in a worse situation diplomatically than Soviets
