Unable to create new units

After today's update, every time I try to create a new unit I get a pop up saying this action is reserved for players with a premium account. I tried different games and units with the same result.

Is this the end of the game for freebies?

I'm not having the same problem, so it sounds like a bug at your end. Do you have a screenshot?

This is happening when you use the "queue" button, it is reserved for HC. Either click the other one ("Produce" or smth like thet); when it is not available it means it is already building something else, the factory isn't finished yet, etc.

It wasn't working at all initially, despite empty queues. But after a few hours it was ok. So all ok now.
