That's not a bug. You can't see units in a level 5 fort unless you patrol with a plane or get spy intel.
What units am I fighting? More ghosted units
I submitted a bug report on this, but in this game(2115397), how do I know what unit's I'm fighting?

Really? I'd heard of that, but never run into it before. Thank you sir.

Yup. Aerial reconnaissance is your first solution. Use air recon early, use it often, use it always. Unless you're a high-roller, and you can afford to spend the 1,650 gold units to use the "reveal all armies" espionage function on a regular basis. IMHO, more than any other single factor, good intelligence regarding enemy troop strengths and dispositions wins games.DxC wrote:

And, no, you should not be attacking an L5 fortification without knowing what's inside first. I have witnessed an ally attack an L5 fortification in a city and lose almost all of a 45-unit mixed stack of mostly armor to defeat a defending stack one third the size of the attacking stack. An L5 fortification deflects 75% of your offensive strength, while the enemy stack within defends at 100% defensive strength.
And remember terrain matters. A lot. You're fighting an L5 fortification in a city; in cities, the offensive and defensive strengths of all of your tank and armored car units are reduced by 50%, and the hit points of all of your tank and armored car units are also reduced by 50%. That means an armored car brigade has only 7.5 hit points (not 15) in a city, a light tank brigade has only 10 (not 20), a medium tank brigade has only 12.5 (not 25), and a heavy tank brigade has only 22.5 (not 45). That means they get killed twice as easily.
Also, where's your artillery? If your enemy has a well-defended L5 fortification that includes substantial anti-aircraft units, your best bet for reducing the enemy's stack while preserving your own, may be 8, 10, 12 or 16 artillery regiments firing in mini stacks of 3, 4, 5 or 6 regiments each (SBDE max for conventional arty is 8; SBDE max for SP arty is 6). Or, if you're in a hurry and willing to accept some losses of tactical bombers, a combination of arty and TBs on patrol.
