Starting as soon as 1933, the Chinese (National) Army was trained by the Germans. The Chinese even used Panzer I !

It would have made sense to put them in any "doctrine" :

- Pan Asia because well, Asia

- Axis because they were trained and organized along the German doctrine, until at least the Battle of Nanking where they lost all their German-trained divisions

- USSR because they had the same case of "mass army" and reliance on mass & militia

- Allies because well, that's the side they ended the war in.

I believe Bytro did not put them Pan Asia so Asia is a bit more diversified in terms of doctrine, and did not want to put allies because it is already the most common doctrine (and it includes its relative neighbours India, French Indochina and Burma).

That leaves Comintern, but it would be strange to see Nationalist China, which fought Communists until the end, be "Comintern", so well Axis doctrine it is.

I still believe in terms of "stat bonus" it should have been Komintern but since narratively it makes no sense I believe should have been Pan Asia (terrain dominance and "light" unit bonus would fit better than having great motorized infantry and expensive-but-powerful units) but I understand where they come from.

Nationalist China was mainly aided by the Germans (earlier in the war) and the US (later in the war). Whilst i agree that it having the Axis doctrine doesn't really make sense based off of its geographical placement (hurr durr, all east Asia countries=Pan Asia doctrine hurr durr), it does help China a lot in the early game in order to not be annexed by the 6 countries it borders with, 3 of those being major powers. The real problem with Historical China in this game right now is the Comintern doctrine they have, for some reason, acquired in the ,,All countries, all in,, event. It makes no sense that a nation which actively executed the communists, will use their doctrine. They should either get the Allied doctrine or the Axis doctrine.

China had virtually no domestically produced weapons or vehicles. Almost everything came from her neighbors.

-Captured Chi-Ha tanks

-Panzers

-Sherman tanks bought from the US

-Soviet Artillery and guns

-American Artillery and guns

-A huge hodgepodge of planes

the list goes on.

Only in the most recent few decades has China begun domestically producing vehicles of their own design, even if they closely resemble other vehicles and weapons...

Yes yes i know history too, but Axis isnt Germany. its a PACT between three nations, Italy, Japan and Germany. Smaller nations joined it too, but china wasnt AXIS even if it was aided by Germany. Germany DOES NOT equal Axis. China was fighting against axis and even agreed to join Allies. but i think there should be some sort of 5th doctrine, becuase besides china, many doctrines dont make sense in some countries. for example there are many countries that fit in none of the doctrines

Doctrines have really nothing to do with actual allegiances, which is why countries of the same doctrine aren't automatically allied. They have to do with tech types. As Axis countries were the majority that used that specific tech type, it's called the Axis doctrine.

Though maybe it could be worth it to have an "Unaligned" doctrine

Doctrines give more advantage then disadvantages but at least it would have fit many non-playables countries, and with pretty small bonus all around (ADAPTABILITY : 5% Move speed 5% Production time bonus) it could have been fairly balanced vs the other ones even for playable nations.

It would make nations with doctrine more special, too. Problem of course is that then it would mean that the assets for units would be not aligned with the doctrine.
