I am very curious about game design and player game culture.
For those who have played in round one of the Alliance World Cup I have these questions:
1. Do you feel the scenario was balanced between the two teams?
2. What did you like about the game play?
3. What did you not like about the game play?
4. What did you learn?
5. What advice do you have for other players that will make their game play better?
6. Were there any particular problems with any of the scenario or game rules or sportsmanship in the game?
Thanks

The first season of the AWC was a very educational experience. Many of the lessons were dearly bought, so pardon me if I donβt share them all here
The setup is random, so there is no inherent strength or weakness to any one side. Naturally a random placement can appear to give a slight advantage to one team or another, but in many cases I have seen teams win from a position that appeared to be poor. It depends largely on the battle plan laid out by the team leader and the willingness to take a few risks for the reward.

My experience is it's a team focused event where 5 players need to lay out a plan and work closely together.
A non-coordinated team will lose with a well oiled one no matter how good individual players are.
It's very competitive and the preparation phase to the war is as much important as the war itself. If your team makes a planning mistake or your competitors outsmart you, your country can be dead in 12-24 hrs from the start of the war.

Doesn't take that long. One of my guys overslept last year and lost his capital exactly 6 minutes after peace ended.

I've sent you AWC discord link. You can get your head around how the tournament is organised there and chat with players in the discussion channel.
From my experience the tournament is well organised and many players contribute to its organisation. Bytro Game Administrators - @VorlonFCW and @Lord - check gold use and run games administration side of things.
AWC and The Teams League are the two no gold events endorsed by Bytro. It's a very good addition to standard games where gold is an integral part. They provide an opportunity for players to put their skills to the test in a no gold scenario. Bytro endorsement of these events is highly appreciated.

You need to visit the community events section of the forum more often

For those of you who wish to sharpen your skills as a team, there is also an event called The Team League which we will run in november. Teams of 4 play on the homefront map against other top teams. Look for the signup thread the last week of this month.

FYI: no longer interested. Did not renew my 12 months HC for the 1st time in years and taking a break after the numerous bad changes to the game.
The lack of constructive responses on how gameplay has been ruined (market, diplo, player interaction restrictions etc.) and might be improved again (or not), the now missing features which gave depth and challenge to the game etc. cause me to be deeply disappointed.
The point being, that if I am now anyway severely restricted in what I can do, I might just as well play CoN.
