So, due to Pete not competing in the Player's League due to working each day and not being able to keep up with the popular 24/7 crowd the normal Player's League attracts, has kept me thinking of what would be a fun, monthly contest, that would also take into consideration work each day, but be fair to all players. Here it is, give me your thoughts.
Blue Collar Player's League
All rules of the normal Player's League are in effect with the following exceptions.
1) NPC countries, the ones that will never be player controlled are not subject to the day 3 change peace period. So you can enter a game on day one and attack said NPC countries.
2) A player may only capture one territory per day. A player may use artillery, strategic and tactical bombers to bombard as many territories as they wish, but they may only move to capture one per day.
3) World Herald Rebellions do not count towards this one territory per day limit, so morale weakened by bombardments, spy activity, to cause rebellions is fair play.
4) No coalitions. All diplomacy is on the honor, NAP type agreements. Per Player's League Rules, one cannot get NPC countries to give ROW, NPC countries must be fought if moved into.
Let me know what you think.

Not that I am planning to participate in this, but considering the two province a day limit, what happens in the following scenario:
At day change I have 20 provinces, Enemy takes two provinces, leaving me with 18. 12 hours later I recapture those two, bringing me back to the position I started the day with, 20 provinces and the same ones I started the day with. So I have "captured" my two province limit, but I have not gained. Would it be fair to reclaim provinces, plus capture two additional provinces?

i will not play this game, don't like at all the rules. We need more people playing PL, so with this league maybe the player will split.

well Max , in truth, the PL has its issues. If players are monitorig the game 24/7 taking naps in between, timing the patrols on each aircraft stack then maybe an alternative is required.
There is a huge advantage to be gained by being online at very regular and short intervals. Some people can't play like that, they have a real life, responsibilities, work, family and COW isn't everything for them.
So the game should cater for all customers. I'd play in both but I always recognised that being semi-retired gives me a huge advantage.

Vorlon,
No, if you lose two provinces, then take them back, that's your two territory limit. Direct attacks can only net two provinces a day, indirect attacks (Arty, Bombing, Spies) can net you as many as you can get to rebel.
To all others,
We have a sign up for the first game under the Community Events tab in the forums, can we move discussion for this game to that thread, as to not interfere with the existing Player's League subjects.
Thanks

Fun event with a much slower pace. 2 check in's a day for 5 minutes was generally enough. Unfortunately the end got messy with the winner breaking the 2 province per day rule to grab points (30 or 31 provinces on day 55). Unfortunately there is no way to enforce in-game rules and since no Bytro rules were broken, Bytro declined to enforce the 2 province rule stipulated on day one.
Definitely a potential format for people who want to play a little, but are to busy for a traditional COW format.

Good event, but it has it's weakness, the winner is the player/s that logs in every day, rather than with the other PL games where the more active players win.
The idea and concept was executed perfectly by all players, no one exceeded the Province limit, however the rule about infantry and mech will be hard for future mods to monitor and harder to decide what to do with those that break that rule.
The Game would work perfectly as a PL.
As to Pete's post above, he is wrong about the end of the game. The winner at this stage had 330 point and the nearest to him was Peter at 159 point, and then the rest were around 80 with an average of 50 or less. Winner needs 400 pts to win.
So at this stage all had been going great, all rules observed and suddenly Peter and the other player (spain) wanted to retire. I took offence at this because the purpose of the blue collar is that it is a slow game.
It would have taken Peter several months to catch up with my score at 2 provinces per day, so his defeat was inevitable and the Turkish Army was very weak compared to Germany''s army.
However if Peter or Nimbrel Play in these games then i wont play, because they started cussing at me to retire, when i could ended the game in 12 hours by taking a few cities, which i did in the end, because they resorted to name calling, Callin me a bitch and and prick for not immediately retiring, but i was couple of days from getting my first nuclear bomb and had been excited about dropping it on Madrid so i wanted just another 3 days...but they were relentless for me to retire.
The is no retirement in the blue collar, it's a play to the very end game. I ended the game as quickly as they asked me to. Now they are complaining about it.

Oh yeah, Possibly best consider the Missiles role otherwise at the latter stages, its a missile game and a race for Nuclear.

haha, you should have nuked their whiny asses

A few cities was 31 provinces on day 55, violating the 2 per day rule.

Let's clarify....
Wayne had set this play test up as a 45 day game. The PL games are 30 days. There was no point victory conditions in the rules. Wayne left the game after 45 and when he went inactive, we asked you to retire the game. We asked for days, while doing nothing, game related, but simply asking for you to click the retire button.
Your a darn good player, my frustration was simply, end the game as we accomplished what we started, to see if the rules were going to achieve what we wanted. They did and once more, you played a very good game.
You might even be the first player that made me go translate something into German to post Once, more, yea, an old lady does get frustrated when she has been asking for days that you click a button and it is not happening.
Cheers, well played and after the first of the year, we will look to make this something a bit more official.

Why all the fuss over an unranked game?

Appreciate your praise and the fact you went to all the trouble to translate that message to German, I wasn't too sure what it meant lol because I was just role playing, but I did translate it to be polite since you went to all that trouble.
Sorry I dragged on a couple of days, also I had not noticed you had retired when you did, until Peter posted in the news.
All in all a good game and I think it was a success but also 30 days may not be sufficient, perhaps maybe an accumulative factor where you can take 3 provinces after Day 10 and 4 provinces after Day 20 and as many as you like after Day 30; to end the game.

I think this format would be good as is with it being a 60 day game, gives you options on your tech tree as well. I prefer that to making it three provinces a day, two was a good pace and set up some interesting options for war. Our front in this game was intriguing and had it not been a play test, I would most likely have gone to war with you after I had finished with Italy, but after Italy I was simply sitting out the game then, as I had seen what I wanted to see as far as how the rules were shaping up. Look forward to competing with you again

surely this is the weakness of the PL game in that it needs you to be active all day long? Hence the need for a BCL game.
So can someone formally draft suggested amendments to the rules?
