After some startup problem, the PL round for june has started! It is played on the new N.American map, a 50p map with about 30 active players. The middle of the board seems especially empty, but that may be a personal impression of the reporter.
The leader of the PL season board is in NW.Territories, and has already formed a coalition with Saskatchewan and Wyoming. A second coalition of Pennsylvania and North Carolina has been created, and there are also some aspiring chiefs that didn't find any Indians yet.
Otherwise, the newspaper is full of messages about barracks being completed, and little else except a pesky intelligence operation gone wrong in Havana. Leaders are looking at eachother wearing sunglasses, so their intentions can be hidden just a little bit better... what will happen? Who will fight, who will ally? Who will draw the new map for the continent?

The answer to yesterday's question was loud and clear: Swordsmen took the side of YDN, while United Defenders joined the Sauron team.
In a swift blitkrieg, Swordsmen took almost the entire core of two Sauron members, Alabama and North Carolina, and more land lying in between. They are now both pushing forward into Pennsylvania, and threatening Mississippi. Casualties have been low so far, for Sauron home forces were apparently minimal as all their strength was focused on the YDN front in Missouri and elsewhere.
UD also made an attack, striking into YDN land on a broad front. However, they seem to operate more careful, and have only scathed the existing frontiers so far. This story will surely be continued over the next days.
In Missouri, YDN is slowly gaining back some of the ground taken by Sauron in the last few days. Death tolls are still rising, but YDN surely feels the pressure decreasing as Sauron units are being withdrawn from the front to defend their home lands.
In the West, Maine´s forces finally left the Mexican mountains behind and started swarming over the Arizona plains. However, they were immediatly met by a determined and mobile Kansas defense. Provinces are changing hands rapidly, and no conclusive results are in yet.

The former major powers, YDN and Sauron, are in full retreat by the hands of UD and Swordsmen respectively.
The UD Juggernaut is in full swing, destroying YDN's West Ontario and Minnesota cores, and rolling towards those of Nebraska and Kansas.
Swordsmen are not only advancing through Texas towards Sauron's Mexican lands, but also up the Atlantic coast through Pennsylvania.
Sauron and YDN have settled their differences and signed a peace traty, but at present it seems the war between them drained too much of their resources to stop their current enemies.

Swordsmen declared on YDN, and also announced cancelling the NAP with UD yesterday, effective this next day change. With the demise of Sauron, all remaining three powers of any relevance are now at war with eachother.
Over the past days, UD has been pushing slowly forward in former YDN lands of central Canada and Northern USA. However, the speed of this attack couldn't match the Sowrdmen' push into the Western USA, taking huge chunks of land between California and Kansas, apparently without effort.
Before that, Sauron had already been reduced to some last strongholds at the hands of Sworsdsmen.

It is the last day of the PL, and at day change the scores will be counted. Everyone is busy grabbing some last points, though the mainline is pretty clear: Swordsmen are the big winners, YDN and UD far behind, who are in a tight race for the second spot. Some WW, Sauron and Alaskan remnants are picking up some loose points.
