@Diabolical: Maybe you remember my "Clash of Alliances". But this team fights ware very hard to setup. Sometimes the team lost a player or two or three teams try to go always on one other team on all maps...I had a lot of trouble with this setup. I think it's more interested for new players to enter a open team fight then to try to find a team for half a year. The fluctuation of players is very high, we have a number of players that plays each month and some player they enter the league if they have time, and a big part of players check the games only once or twice.
But if you guys will try to play a team fight like i suggest, feel free to enter the new German Liga in August 2018. Yes we start in August after my vacation and will only running 4 month. With Google translator you will be able to communicate with the other players, and most of them speak English as well.
Perhaps. But having a shorter season (3 months) should mitigate the fluctuation to some extent. As for ganging up....perhaps a modification of the rules could fix this:
RULE: You cannot stay at war with another specific team for more than 4 days. You must go to war with another team for 4 days before you can go back to being at war with the other team.
I know that sounds complicated, but some variant along those lines might work. Get creative, make some rules!
BTW: I don't speak German, but I do sing some songs in German. Unfortunately, the text of those songs is all romance era love songs, so I'm not sure it'd be a good idea for me to try to communicate in the "German Liga". Or maybe I SHOULD try it....

Du bist wie eine Blume, | So hold und schön und rein;
Ich schau' dich an und Wehmut
Schleicht mir ins Herz hinein.
Mir ist, als ob ich die Hände | Aufs Haupt dir liegen sollt',
Betend, daß Gott dich erhalte
So rein und schön und hold.

It seemed like such a waste to destroy an entire battle station just to eliminate one man. But Charlie knew that it was the only way to ensure the absolute and total destruction of Quasi-duck, once and for all.
The saying, "beating them into submission until payday", is just golden...pun intended.
