This time, let’s dig a bit deeper into this long range arty — rocket.
The role that rockets play in the battlefield:
1.As Bytro said, rockets are for strategic warfare and mainly target at damaging buildings. They’re a cheaper, faster and greater counterpart of strategic bombers. So, for rocket people like me, you don’t have to research strategic bombers in most situations.
2. Rockets are best treated as long-range artillery, and can effectively take care of in-bunker troops.
3. Rockets can decrease province morale. If you can mass produce rockets, shoot 3-4 rockets per province. That may sound expensive, but in the end, your enemies’ economy will be seriously disrupted and his land will rebel.
—Common rockets
How to use them offensively:
1. Build rockets in ICs 350-800 km away from key enemy tactical positions.
2. Before launching any of the rockets, always DECLARE WAR. For the reason why, please read a future thread about RNG and First Strike theory.
3.Lock your target in place. Either send a troop to engage in combat with the target or launch your rocket when you are sure your enemy is offline.
How to use them defensively:
A good rocket defence network should be able to cover all parts of your land and waters near your coastline. In CoW ver 1.5, only use rockets defensively when large stacks of troops are invading.
•Sea invasion: It is strongly recommended you build a picket line by using the sub-spam strategy first. When you see incoming convoys, send your subs to engage in combat, lock the convoys in place, and shoot rockets at them.
•Land invasion: As usual, lock targets in place, declare war and launch.
—Nuclear rockets
ONLY use them offensively or your morale will go down and down.
Don’t need to lock targets in place in some occasions, since it has a blast radius of ~50km.
How to defend against them:
—rocket lvl.1 and flying bomb:
1. Shoot them down.
2. Run away.
3. Destroy them on the ground.
—rocket lvl.2 or above and nuke rocket
1.There is nothing you can do when they are airborne but RUN AWAY.
2. Destroy them on the ground.
Finally, something really interesting:
Common rockets and all arty has a blast radius of ~5km, so...... stay tuned......
