starting the Players League here? + PL game 1 thread

Hello all,

Some of you may know me from Supremacy, where I am probably most known for hosting the Players League games. These games are meant for active people who do not wish to spend gold(marks) ingame to create unfair advantages and have a game with active, likeminded people who want to win using their wits, instead of Donald Trumping it. I'd like to raise interest to port the Players League to this game.

A quick summary of PL games in Supremacy regarding the rules

- No gold usage by gentlemans honor. Break the rule and be banned from future PL games - oh, and the rest of the players are likely to gang up on you anyway.

- High Command is allowed and even encouraged somewhat. The PL was originally raised in the belief that microtransactions are detrimental to the game, opposed to pay-to-play or a subscription. Hey, the developers gotta eat as well right?

- bug abusing is not allowed - so far I havent personally found any bugs to abuse (and a good thing!), but if you have - please dont. the shoot and scoot tactic probably doesnt work in this game (thank god) a personal wish of mine for a long time.

- stay active and dont archive the game when you lose your first province, you want your win to be a challenge too, right?....right? If not, this is not the type of game for you;).

What I am looking for is somebody who wants to create a league ladder in excel/google docs/other spreadsheet so people can keep tabs on how they are doing against other active players. Im not overly good with spreadsheets, so help would be welcome.

Oh, and of course players who support my idea so we can get our first 10 player map going soon:)

That will fall to pieces then. If an alliance is forced upon someone, it won't go down well. I suggest that you can only have one ally.

Mess with the Bill, you get the scorn!

I've not had that experience with any of the team games I've been in. However I admit that some do enjoy the diplomatic side of things perhaps more than I do.

Making friends is fun. We had pre-made alliances in a RP once, it fell apart since these alliances were forced on us and I also think that human relations depend on a first greeting and when there is no greeting, it feels like something is missing.

Teams could work, if all agree, like with alliance matches.

.

I think the players league must be free from alliance thinking! For Alliance fights, we have the ELO ranking system.

@ Michael Law: It is generally advised with Bytro games to stick with 2 allies at most. In circumstances you can agree on temporary alliances to take down a player who has grown beyond control, too much for even 3 players to tackle.

In the end though, there can only be 3 winners. There will be situations that 4 or even 5 finish the game - but 1 of them has to reach 1000 points.

@ Nim: Good to see the PL also spread out to that game:)

@ all talking about team games: There could be a (unranked) PL team game if enough interest is there. I think if we try to balance it based on experience/skill it could work out well. For now though, lets stick to the single games and let the PL be something that many people wรกnt to participate in. In S1914 top years 2 or 3 PL games were started per month.

Game Ended.

For record keeping, the end results are:

1: miech (225 points, Russia)

2: Xarus (136 points, Turkey)

3: EnmaDai-O (51 points, France)

Players who werent active at game retirement do not 'count'.

Special mention to Czarhellios, for being an excellent opponent in the face of a massive gang up and teaching some of the finer differences between this game and supremacy.

Attention to Xarus. This seems to be an old thread, but if you are starting any other game please send me an invite. Thanks in advance. .*bows8.. 8) :saint:

If it is possible; It is already done. If it's impossible it just takes a while longer.
