Hi all,
So I enjoy the game but everytime I start a new game most players seem to quit immediately or shortly after the game starts. How do I find a game that people actually stick with?

There is no way, people will become inactive always, but from my experience maps with smaller player counts have less people going inactive, but this isn't always the case. You've seen it, don't go inactive yourself.

If you're losing its also still worth staying active. You might comeback (which is always fun)
A bit off topic, but the Youtuber Sky Badger's fan games in the 100 player maps are extremely active and are probably my favorite way to play the game. They are far and few between, but well worth the wait. 100% recommend.
