I took all the provinces around an AI city and then bombed the units inside to nothing. I moved in my heavy and medium tanks to take it. However, when I got right next to center, 4 anti-tank units appeared out of the blue and engaged. Convienent that it spawned anti-tank when all I had were tanks. Anyway, my bombers got only run in before both tanks were destroyed.
Talking to my coalition members, they told me it happens all the time where AI units will just appear. Is this really something that happens?
I think it happened ealier in the game, too, but I can't remember the detail.
It's because the anti tanks were stealth in the city. When you engaged them with melee they appeared. If you had a scouting unit like an AC or interceptor nearby or patrolling at appropriate level you would have seen them beforehand.
It is nothing to new to me that the AI is much better than the average player.
