Alliance vs Alliance Matches

I will probably try an AvA match this summer. From what I understand, they are a bit different from the normal games. No inactive players, gold users, and a different timeframe.

What needs to be done differently for AvA matches? I suspect they are shorter so probably require less investment in building industry and your economy. How far do you usually pursue researching new technology and upgrading your troops? How much do you go after AI compared to the opposing alliance? I get that there is usually the separate peace periods for AI and players.

I’m trying to wrap my head around what is different and what adjustments are necessary for success.

You are right about the industry.

Games are usually played on 1 day peace period against AI and 2/3 days against players on smaller maps. This means there is a race for the capitol cities of AI, and that's the thing you have to be prepared for. The second thing is that the game is usually done after first 48h of fighting between players. therefore you should specialise in one kind of units, and research them as well as you can so they are:

a) usefull after the fights begin (day 3)

b) you don't waste resources on any unnecessary research

If you find yourself an alliance, they should give you more tips about how to play AvA's, what to do etc.

I’m doing my first alliance match after 2years of playing lol. It’s is quite confusing but you go under alliance tab and it tells you evrything there. Join my alliance Giant Problem [GM3N] maybe you could hop on in the future games

Alliance games are usually won by the team that basically sleeps less and is more active. AKA NO LIFE 101

anyone want an alliance game

知己知彼,百战不殆

Yeah, I played my first, but think it may not have been typical. It was set up on a historical map, by accident, with random country selection. One day AI peace followed by another of player peace. We did it as an unrated game so we wouldn't trash each other's stats.

  • Activity was key, probably as important as a speed round. Most of the guys only slept for three or four hours as a time after the peace period expired.
  • Coordination with teammates was critical too.
  • Yes, resource management and research discipline were extremely important.

While the time commitment was incredible during the game, the short nature of the game was a little bit of a relief. I'll hope to play more. My alliance hasn't done too many as it's a challenge to coordinate when everyone is available.
