Anybody else here from pre 2017?

Hey man. Can't say I remember you, but I joined in february 2016.

Not pre-2017, but my account has been going since 2020, and I had one before from 2018.

What do you think caused so many pre-2017 players to quit?

My first account on the forum was created in November 2015 I think, so been playing on and off since then.

Compared to 2015 it's a very different game.

That's pretty impressive, I don't think I've found anyone whose been here that long.

Mind if I ask, since i never got round to building them, what were nuclear-submarines/battleships/carriers like?

Truthfully, I never used them either.

Neither did I. They became available even later than nukes.

I found this image of the nuclear submarine:

I was alive I’m days of nuclear ships and subs. Unfortunately I never built them. Then I left the game and returned a few times. While the game has seemingly been growing, it feels like there are less and less serious people recently. I remember playing geography games and discussing history in global and setting up games, but know it seems trolls or newbies who leave in a week are all that’s there… and the forum has been declining. It’s quite saddening…

Bytro keeps appealing to new players, and as a result, doesn't do as much to keep the genuine ones.

Probably. They have so many sponsorships, it’s like they spend more money on that than actually improving the game sometimes. I know you have to grow and developing a game is difficult. Just wish they could be more honest about their situation and plans sometimes.

yo

I used Nuclear Battleships several times. They were awesome. The power of a stack of regular battleships but faster than a leveled up destroyer. The subs were nice, but since they took damage in close combat, not as fun to use as a battleship. You could shoot and scoot all day long :)

It must have been crazy especially since you had the ability to spam so many units in those days…

Well, no, nukes were always expensive. I never had more than 1. But that 1 was enough to rule the Pacific.

I think I was able to get around 1-3 nukes in a game, maybe 4 in those days. I think it’s actually easier to get them now than back then. Though the days of tank spam have sadly passed.

I started playing Oct 2016

The thing i liked about battleships was the attack range increased at certain levels. Nuclear battleships I think did damage at 90 range?

Cruisers also did something like 40-60 and a high level cruiser could outrange a L1 battleship if I remember correctly.

Oh my goodness I forgot that ranged increased back then! The memories…

That was great, I loved the jump in artillery range at level 3.

Plus it was historically accurate. Upgraded guns could shoot further, it only made sense. Saddening.
