Best Way to Defend Against Nuclear Bombers?

What is the best way to defend units against potential attacks by nuclear bombers? I was thinking that having, say, 4 interceptors patrol above my units along with the unit itself having 2-3 anti-air/SP anti-air would be enough to destroy the bomber before it is able to attack but I'm not sure.

To shoot down an (1) attacking nuclear bomber it needs approximately an overall anti-air-value of 30 in the target (including the air defense values of normal ground units or ships).

In addition you do need to be at war with the owner of the Nuclear Bomber. If you are at peace or cease fire the bomber will slip past your defenses and detonate.

Are you sure about that?

Depends.

If it's a bomber, you can shoot it down.

If its a rocket, you're screwed, nothing you can do about it.

The best way to defend against nuclear bombers is to have a air force stationed nearby to take it down quickly and efficiently.

I am never sure about anything in this game, lol.

I lost a stack of units to a nuke bomber last week that should have been able to defend itself, but didn't. An ally had been at war with another country and had come to a cease fire agreement. He had 20 something units in a fort including 4 AA. I had 21 units in the same fort including 6 AA. I was not yet at war with the enemy at that point. A nuke bomber hit us. So a stack of 6 and a stack of 4 AA each at level 4 I think should by the numbers defeat a nuke bomber, although the X-factor has been rather unkind to me lately. I was under the impression that as we were not at war the enemy got a free shot at us with the bomber. War was not declared until our units were destroyed, so our units did not defend themselves.

Am I incorrect about that scenario?

I guess I would expect his units to defend, if he's being attacked, regardless if he is at peace or has cease fire, but your units might not defend in that situation if still at peace. Did you see the bomber? Was it just one? I guess it's possible it wouldn't defend if at cease fire but I would expect it to defend with peace. I guess one could try to test the scenario with normal planes.

Neither of us were online, So I suppose our enemy could have had a pair of bombers, or even a couple strat bombers stacked with the nuke bomber to absorb damage.
