But i use them a little when i actually need them, they are pretty decent.
I see a ton of players that, in my opinion, over-invest in the air force. They make both attack bombers and tactical bombers in addition to interceptors, but usually have twice as many bombers as they do interceptors. Or in worse cases I've seen as many as 80 bombers, whether it's one or two types, with not even 20 interceptors.
They invest far too much in the air force to do the army's job and it works against the average public player so they think air force is the key to victory.
I just think it's a little foolhardy because what do you do if you come across an enemy who uses AA and has more interceptors than you? I've seen a few players suggest strategic bombers or rockets to hit air strikes, but that can be countered (although it rarely is) and it takes even more research away from the army.
What are your thoughts? Is investing the majority of your military in the air force worth it?

I max me out all the time
Ive seen Allied Doctrine full level Strats, my god, the range and structural damage could set you back days, weeks even, if not stopped.Rachellreist wrote:

One time in a America home front map one of my cities in Alabama was getting bombarded from a strat based in saskatchewanFox-Company wrote:

In a HWW German game the US had huge stacks of Strat bombers that my interceptors could barely stop. They took out like 6 cities of mine with lv5 buildings. I managed to outsmart the US and take them out by nuking them while refueling or bombarding, and won the game, but it was pretty difficult. Nice Solo win though.
Now I would say that it should be take into consideration that interceptors have the weakness of having your airstrips destroyed by missiles or planes, and I have sacrificed tactical bombers to wipe out Air Forces before. Now you can win without having any Anti Air or planes but you have to either take out your enemies fast, or have an ally with such things. In one game with Fox I was the one who had the Air Force to damage units and hold back planes, while his spammed units and missiles wiped out air forces and snuck into backlines, winning that game.
So of course I would recommend getting air units since I am an Air Force simp, but perhaps there may be a strategy where you donβt need AA/Air units on large maps. Perhaps using missiles? Else wise it kinda goes down to luck and Allies.
Strategic bombers are a waste of time and resources. Any player worth his shit knows to keep AA in key cities, and SB are basically target practice for your ints. Not to mention how expensive they are.
And actually i have witnesses to prove i do fight pretty damn good players, Kadeko, 1russianleft, Carking, The_Spartan_25, and Costawi have seen me steamroll what im guessing you would consider 'decent' since 'good' means stalking them every waking second to find out everything about them just to eval them and then see if they are good.jubjub bird wrote:
If I'm being honest, I think your confidence in your own skill far outweighs your actual skill level. Klusey is right on this, if you ignore anti-air entirely and still win it's because you're playing against bad players.I'm assuming your user name in game is also "Fox-Company" and I don't think your record or stats prove what you think they prove
(Of course they helped too, but Spartan and Costawi didn't make Airforce like russian and Car do)

We won the round yesterday.
There are a few forum posters who often give advice I would personally consider less than helpful for a competitive game against good players. But most games played on CoW do not include any good players. All kinds of funny strategies work in those games. And even the most naive advice works in those games... which is most games... so it's difficult to say the advice is "wrong".
Yeah i heard, Costawi and Car were celebrating in Alliance chat lolBrando Dilla wrote:

Dunning and Kruger would be proud.Fox-Company wrote:

Iβve given lots of advice in recent threads, like the βAirforceβ and βParatroopersβ threads.z00mz00m wrote:

Perhaps the new players should read them.
We teach them, Costawi and Spartan are newer/not as good members, and Kadeko needs to improve, we bring them into games and i usually just watch their play style and add input as needed, i only attack when attacked or declared war on.Brando Dilla wrote:

Well we joined the game together since it was a team up. I donβt think that counts since we were also all on the same team. I just got as many people I knew as possible and threw them in the same team as me for fun. Worth it.Brando Dilla wrote:

Right. "Planes are not always required, and here are the situations in which you can win without planes" would be helpful, relevant information for new players.z00mz00m wrote:

"I've won 16 games without using planes" is a useless anecdote, and this individual's claims fall apart when you take even just a cursory look below the surface.
If you would like the details on HOW i won, just ask, really isn't that hard.jubjub bird wrote:

Depends. I saw him win one against players with nukes and 500 units, in a WaW. Won HWWs together. That has to count for something, those were pretty good players we fought if I remember right.jubjub bird wrote:
