Destroyers are overrated, change my mind

Destroyers just suck!

According to dxcalc, a stack of 2 l3 subs will kill a single l3 destroyer in 2 turns, while only losing half their hp. (all units were allied in sim)

So why should i use destroyers when you need an unreasonable amt of them just to kill subs, and they get killed by virtually any other naval unit? Cant naval bombers do the job just fine?

You only need 10 destroyers for battleship stacks. Cruiser stacks are fast enough to evade subs so all they need is 1 or 2 destroyers just to give them the scout ability

You just keep selecting Add Target to create a random loop in open waters, far from where you expect the enemy.

Keep the path random and no one will catch you, as long as you keep your cruisers upgraded (unless you're Allies lol).

And what if they just intercept… and this would also mean you can’t, say block a port for too long. You’d constantly be on the run and that’s a big disadvantage.

Perhaps a stack with at least one destroyer and at least one cruiser would be good for patrolling.

The destroyer of course scouts mainly for subs, while the cruiser has a greater above-surface view range.

If you want to buff DD make their attack on surface ships higher they are not very good out of range but if they are able to launch torpedoes the can be more effective make it so they can disengage after attack

sorry K. Imo subs don’t do a whole lot of wrecking. The fact that Bytro has them as melee units ie imo not correct. They should be ranged units.

As it is now you can stack up you transports without escorts. You’ll need a stack of subs to it on. I was a big big fan of subs for a while but when I started losing star subs to 20+ size convoys; I’ve cut back on them, and use them for hidden scouting.
