Introduction
On this day of 1939, the Savior thought about what he had said. "The Last one will be the first One". Well, it was time to help the last one in the material world.
But who was the last one ? What is the least popular nation ? Which nation is the last picked at the gym class ?

The Dominican Republic it is. Actually not the worst "one-city" nation, as at least its position is both isolated from the giants (United States excepted) and close enough from other tiny nations. Oh, we'll see.

I thought you gave up yours after losing to El Salvador?
Yeah, I wanted to stop it after all European majors went inactive AND I was allied to USA which was the last big player active. But I carried on playing just in case.K.Rokossovski wrote:

But then Japan started to become a thread, a strong Euro coalition emerged and USA went inactive so I thought it could be interesting. This happened during the meso-American wars, hence few screenshoots.
eh, sorry for the confusion, I was talking to Genz who said he had a "day report" thread as well.

No no, the other coalition didn't accept me that's why I gave up mine, but that was a long time ago.K.Rokossovski wrote:

Day 11 : Seizing opportunities
It was day 11, and most of the Dominican army (2 BB, 2 DD, 3 commandos, 1 motorized) was now in the Pacific, heading toward Wake Island :

The Dominicans were not alone : Australians, Dutch and even a limited Canadian fleet but a stronger Canadian land force was heading the same < general > direction.
But the Savior knew his purpose in the Americas was not over. He now had on the theater, discounting the submarine protecting Panama :
-2 battleships (+1 arriving)
-1 destroyer
-1 motorized infantry (+1 arriving)

These 4+2 units were OBVIOUSLY enough to not only finish off Colombia but also take over Venezuela.
Of course, the Savior could afford to be confident : tomorrow this powerful force would be joined by a destroyer, another motorized infantry and the first two self-propelled artilleries !

You see, every single Venezuelian city is near the coastline. If the Dominican could clean the sea from Venezuelian presence, even a militia could conquer the useful part of Venezuela. Of course, motorized infantry would avoid hidden militia shenanigans.
The problem was of course that unlike Colombia, Venezuela had a fleet indeed : in total 5 submarines and 5 destroyers in group. The destroyers were there for show, but destroying 5 submarines was going to be tight. But once it would be done, the rest of the dominos would fall without problems.
The Dominican Republic engaged the first group by surprise at maximum range. The enemy squadron immediately gave pursuit, and eventually caught the Dominican Navy slowed down by its massive battleships. The destroyer had to be detached to gain time ...

... the destroyer was lost, but one of the two Venezuelian group had been sunk.
For the second group, it was going to be easier : it was hidden deep in the Gulf of Venezuela, almost in Lake Maracaibo. So in case of pursuit, the enemy squadron would have to take a long route around Maracacaibo, which would give time for the Dominican to cause massive damage...

... which did not quite happen, because due to the terrible quality of the new hand-held radio transmitter received by the Dominican Navy, they were ordered forward after shooting their initial salvo, and so they actually met the submarine head-on...
Nonetheless, they would win the battle, but at a very high cost : the initial two battleships (including the OSS Toussaint Louverture) were now at half strength.
This was all for the day, but the next day would be only naval bombardement and military occupation for Venezuela..
As for Japan, there was a new, astounding news !

Wait, what ?

The Dominican Navy suddenly beelined for Tokyo (and its transports were as fast as transports can be), while the Dutch immediately attacked - and destroyed - one of the main Japanese fleet with overwhelming force. This was more than a sign - this was a miracle ! Japan would be Christianized !
Meanwhile you may wonder how I could afford the magnificent 15 units-strong force it had. The spread-trading era had ended.
Initially, during the meso-American wars era, the method was to pick a one-city country on the map producing something the Dominican Republic looked forward, and exchanging the surplus the Christian Republic had in rare materials for whatever resource that other one-city country presumably had (=what that one city was producing).
Here is one example among many, with everyone favorite underdog :

Eventually, the Dominican Republic was the last of such countries active (the Free City Dantzig sadly disappeared from the map after an ill-timed attack on Poland) so the resources had to be sourced within the coalition. Oil, in particular, was the rarest of the resource with for a long time only city - Managua - representing very exactly100% of the Dominican domestic oil production. Colombia had no city producing oil, but some remote place in Colombia produced a bit, so in the morning of day 11 Managua was still producing ... 94% of the Dominican Republic production.
You know who had a lot of oil ? The Dutch. And henceforth, the Royal Dutch Cascaron conglomerate was created. Oil was exchanged :

A LOT of oil :

There is only that much rare materials that you can use, but the Most Christian Republic also had a bludgeoning steel industry (thanks to Haiti and Cuba, which had developped their steel industry to a point where it could rival the Rhur [level 5]), and henceforth the trade was diversified :

Trade ain't as fancy as a battleship, but it sure can make you win war by having the battleship in the first place.

Be wary of what you wish for. I don't talk to everyone, and when I am not the DOminican Republic I am super picky with who I am in coalition with tooKarl von Krass wrote:

.I have done probably around 15 "let's play" in my life, on all sorts of games (you can find more if you follow the link on my signature, and then check my signature then), so yeah, I start to be pretty good with the screenshoots. I am always varied about lack of varied vocabulary and insane amount of typos/so-so grammar though [I am French, and French people don't have a second language - a third at best :p]
The usage of the word "conglomerate" contributes to my theory that Chimere is some billionaire.
ofc i read your Tibet report, and i always use uncommon selections from my lexicon to make ambiguous sentences.Chimere wrote:

Day 12 - 14 : The double conquest
First, here is the size of the total Dominican army at the start of day 12 :

19 units in total :
Pacific force : 8
- 2 battleships
- 2 destroyers
- 3 commandos
- 1 Motorized infantry
Venezuelan force : 10
- 3 battleships
- 1 destroyer
- 3 motorized divisions
- 2 self-propelled artillery
- 1 militia (defending Medellin)
Other : 1
- A submarine in Panama
The conquest of Venezuela had been stalled for a while, with the destruction of the only Dominican destroyer : the powerful battleships were not willing to adventure themselves in unpatrolled waters where submarine could arrive. The arrival of a new destroyer at the beginning of day 12 allowed to resume the offensive :

The Battleships opened the way, for ONE motorize infantry regiment to take over all the populous area of Venezuela. Meanwhile, reinforcement was arriving to wipe out the enemy strongpoints in the interior and break counter-attacks :

The gates of Caracas was reached at the end of day 1, but the motorized force decide to wait for the following day before attacking :

Meanwhile, the Dominican expedition force arrived first on the shores of Japan :

It was a small force of 4 land units and 4 naval units but Christ willing, it would certainly be enough to conquer the whole of Japan ! The Savior was confident of this thanks to the Dutch : they had met and destroyed the main Japanese fleet at the end of day 11, there should be not strong enemy navy in the area.
The landing went unopposed, and a defenceless Tokyo (except for a few airmen) was seized !

Suddenly, the Dominican Republic was extremely rich, even more than when it was a market-trading nation :

The market was absolutely looted immediately :

Looking backward, the wealth should have been shared with the other coalition members, especially since they could probably have a better usage of the resource (they were presumably less embargoed for instance), but oh well. They were not the RIGHT kind of Christians anyway.
A Japanese limited counter-attack forced Japan to stall the landing of its commando while the battleship cleared the ground :

It only took a few hours. The motorized infantry was sent to conquer, while the commando fortified TOkyo, where Christian militias started to be built ! Down with Shinto !

Osaka fell, offering more motorized infantry to the Christian Republic :

[strangely, the motorized in construction would become "level 3" and the timer would move to 11 hours when the new day arrived]
The final push to Hiroshima was interrupted by a Japanese fleet, which badly mauled the motorized infantry.

This was problematic. Australia had a powerful fleet nearby. Maybe he could do something ?

Nice.
On day 13, Australia had delivered :

Due to the Canadian landing, and because the Savior wanted a firm control on the whole main island (=Honshu) for religious reasons and morale networking management, the commandos had to go on the offensive :

Sadly, it all went so fast that there is little documentation of the final days. There were minor skirmishes but well,Honshu was fully under Dominican control, except that small Canadian center. Shikoku was Dominican as well, Kyushu was Australian and Hokkaido still had to be fully occupied, but its urban area was Dominican.

To conquer Japan, the Dominican Republic had lost one motorized infantry. Of course, most of the blood spent had been Dutch or Australian.
The Dutch and Australian were now liberating China, but this will be explained better tomorrow in our "diplomatic" update.
Speaking of China, there was one last thing to do regarding Japan :

FINALLY rolling back to Venezuela, there had been various counter-attack during the night :

One SP-gun was surprised and destroyed immediately after landing in Maracaibo.
This mattered not, the plan was finished without modification :

The Dominican was lucky, a light tank brigade in formation in Bogota accepted to join the Dominican, even though the Dominican did not know how to make tanks !

By mid-day, the Savior decided to move his capitole to Panama ! It was time to leave the insular nature of Hispagnolia ! A Capitol in Panama would be symbolic of a new regime stretching Westward and Eastward, North and South !
By the end of the 13th day, all the interesting parts of Venezuela, and a buffer, were in Dominican hands :

There would not be much movement by the morning of the 14th - after all no more units could be built by the Venezuelians :

To conquer Venezuela, the Christian Republic had lost one destroyer and one self-propelled gun.
Ecuador was to be the next target. Sadly, their main (and only) city could not be reached by the battleship, but the battleships would support the self-propelled guns, and the self-propelled guns could reach the city :

Of course, those strategic bomberrs were a bit of a surprise, and they were being irritating as they started attacking Medellin !

By the end of day 14, all of Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador would be controlled by the Christian Republic, except a thin layer of worthless territories which would be between Brazil and the Christian Republic, and would serve as an useful buffer zone.
Tomorrow, we will talk more deeply about the diplomatic situation.
We basically reached... now. I haven't reduced Ecuador yet, though I don't see whhat could save it
.
So I am totally blind just as you are on what will happen.
