Introduction
On this day of 1939, the Savior thought about what he had said. "The Last one will be the first One". Well, it was time to help the last one in the material world.
But who was the last one ? What is the least popular nation ? Which nation is the last picked at the gym class ?

The Dominican Republic it is. Actually not the worst "one-city" nation, as at least its position is both isolated from the giants (United States excepted) and close enough from other tiny nations. Oh, we'll see.

Does the Netherlands seriously have 20 battleships?
Day 17 : Polite rivalries
The opening of day 17 showed this situation in India :

The most interesting part was the race toward New Delhi between the Dominican Republic and Persia :

The Dominicans would arrive first - only an hour before the Persians :

The commandos waited to see what the opposition would be. It turned out the Persians, who stopped at the Persian-Dominican border, were a group of tanks and rocket artillery.
This meant that the commando were invisible, so a trap was sprung :

The Dominicans expected the Persians to attack and seize the city. The commandos would hide behind the fork of the road, and hopefully the Persians would use the city as an hub for their aircraft. After all, it was central... and just to make sure to tempt them even more, the airport was improved by the Dominicans.

Sadly, the Persians prefered not to carry on, and retired :

The Persian heathens were diplomatically rather nice, though they had received a boost of confidence during the night, where the defection of British India had hit them hard :

Meanwhile, more in the South of India, the Battle fleet opened the way to Madras :

and with no defence, Bangalore was next for the Dominican motorized infantry (which had been damage by enemy air force).

Netherlands joined the fight later in the day, anniliating the Indian fleets in the East :

By mid-day, there was some good news for the Republic :

For what it was worth (not much in terms of real power really), the Dominican Republic was second.
There were less good news from the spies report :

The Shah had no bluffed when talking to the Savior. He was now filthy rich.
The Savior decided to investigate further, convoking the Turkish ambassador in Panama :

The discussion with Persia had not stopped either :

Well, at least, it looked like from the news that Canada and Netherlands were having more cash than they needed :

Finally, last bad news : Bangalore had rebelled and had switched side, it would have to be retaken.
By the end of the day, here is what the situation was like in India :

And in Europe, Romania had decided to attack Germany !

This brings us to the last front : Brasil.
There were two landing spots, one in the South near Porto Alegre, one in the North near Belem.
Belem was defended by a small cruiser fleet, and not much else. There would not be much challenge for the Dominican veteran Battleships. The Savior trusted his sailor, and the modernized OSS Toussaint Louverture.
In the South, Porto Alegre was something else : 11 infantry and 17 planes defended the city !

The plan was to land the force by surprise, and trust the AA guns the the Dominicans had brought with them to do the job. They were VERY good AA guns really.
The battleships and the artillery would shoot at the city, the infantry would split between the one that went for the artillery and the one that would stay in the city, and small chunk by small chunk, the whole enemy army would be destroyed.
First surprise after the landing : it was not only 11 infantry regiments, there were also 6 militia regiments !
Second surprise : upon being attacked, 10 infantry regiments and 6 militia regiments decided to come visit the artillery :

The artillery was at risk. There was a solution though : the Light Tank brigade would seize the field [Gramado] in a force march before the infantry arrived. In strong defensive position, it could hold the line while artillery and ship guns would do their work :

You see, combined battleship and artillery had more than 50 in "attack power" - which means that from the moment it would not be in defensive [15% home bonus] position it would take them 5 salvos (in 2 hours and half) to reduce fully the enemy army after the initial attack

Meanwhile, the enemy army had 20 in attack power against light armor, so it would take it 2 hours to fully reduce the light tank brigade...

... except it would be on the receiving end of another salvo before it even make contact, and its power value would decrease fast as it would be mauled by artillery.
Indeed, the first attack and cause much less damage than 20 already :

The second attack even less :

Until finally, there was no one else to fight. Porto Alegro was defenceless :

In the North, the Dominican fleet had removed the Cruisers threat quickly enough :

Of course, the Dominican fleet had tried to remain out of range of the cruisers, so the fleet was almost intact after this battle, though pretty much in the high seas by the end of the combat.
The defenders of the North and the South removed, the conquest was in full swing by the end of the day.

The land force would regroup for the night in close vicinity of the battleships, just in case the Brazilians did anything funny during the night.
26 actually !whowh wrote:
