Introduction
On this day of 1939, the Savior thought about what he had said. "The Last one will be the first One". Well, it was time to help the last one in the material world.
But who was the last one ? What is the least popular nation ? Which nation is the last picked at the gym class ?

The Dominican Republic it is. Actually not the worst "one-city" nation, as at least its position is both isolated from the giants (United States excepted) and close enough from other tiny nations. Oh, we'll see.

Day 18 & day 19 - The Indo-Brazilian grind
There is very little to say on day 18 :
The coastal area of India was pretty well controlled, with only some mop-up to organize :

Unfortunately, rebellions would be hard to placate, and the situation would still be "stable but not pretty" by the end of the day :

The situation was more interesting in Brazil. The objective for this day was to take and hold as many coastal cities as possible, the destruction of the enemy forces would wait.
In Brazil, day 18 was occupied at trying to destroy as many Brazilian troops as possible while seizing all the coastal cities.
In the North, little ground had been lost during the day, and the attack renewal was initially only slowed down by a strong force in front of Fortaleza.

A strong force in front of Natal proved more challenging, and occupied the battleships for the rest of the day. Having time to kill, the ground force had adventured itself a bit in the interior.

Not showed here, the Dominican Army Group North got under several rocket attacks, damaging but not destroying any unit.
As midnight approached, it was time to bag the remaining defenseless cities and take a defensive position, hoping not too much to have been lost :

The situation was yet more interesting for Army Group South. The enemy had conqured some ground, but more importantly, the Brazilian air force had started strategic (and criminal) air strikes against its own [former] cities !

The AA had been considered to defend those cities, but later a quick calculation of the relative force value of AA and bombers made the Dominican command reconsider this decision.
Sao Paulo was quickly deprived of defenders, but the capitol, Rio de Janeiro, was heavily defended with no less than 12 armored units. It would takes hours to reduce them :

By mid-day, the relentless bombings had triggered, expectedly, mass rebellions - though the territories would be quick to take back :

The strategic bombers were going to find new target, so it was necessary to stop them now and there : Rio de Janeiro was ignored for a time as the battleship went looking for the enemy air force...
... and boy did it find them :

Most of the Brazilian squadrons were clearly training and not doing anything dangerous, but one of the largest squadron attacked the fleet :

The Dominicans timed their attack exactly so the enemy squadron would be caught - and largely neutralized - on the ground. Later, most of the strategic bombers would be caught and destroyed at them.
It was time already to prepare for the night, and the fleet was sent in front of Rio :

After a day of giving orders, the Savior could read his favorite newspaper :

It was not that bad. Sure, the economy was 10% to 20% weaker than the competition (Persia, Romania and Turkey) but it was in the same order of magnitude, and once Brazil would be fully in control it would most likely be above.
Day 19 was more of the same :
In Brazil, the situation had changed little during the night, except the loss of the Northermost city of Belem :

In the North of Brazil, the advance was fast, even capturing some units that the Brazilians did not have the time to assemble in Natal :

Sadly, Recife was something else, and the best defended city so far :

The Southern had to join from the South, for Recife to be reduced before the end of the day :

Recife was avoided for a time, and the two army group joined in Ilheus - where planes were in construction ! Finished, they would become the beginning of the Dominican air force. They would also be paraded everywhere to make the opposition believe that the Dominicans had an air force
.

By mid-day, the Dominican entered Rio de Janeiro. Here, in the Hall of Mirrors of the former Paço Imperial of Pedro II (and really Pedro I as well), the Dominican Republic became...
... the Holy Dominican Empire [HDE] !
Under Emperor Savior I
It was an Empire where the sun never sets, except in winter, and even then you kind of guess that the sun is just below the horizon really.
First Nation among almost equal !

This was a huge boost of morale (below : the Empire before and after the Proclamation) :

There was only some resistance in Brazil to mop up, and more territories to gain in India ; by the end of the day there is how much the HDE had expanded :

For this whole conquest, the HDE had lost so far in two days ...
... one light tank brigade, though all the rest of the units (except the AA and artillery) had received significant attrition :

Yet, there were a few motives for worries for the Savior.
One small item was nothing really, but irritating. The Soviet Union remains had declared on the HDE (well, on the Dominican Republic back then). Initially, the Savior was happy with the situation : he had never converted Orthodox to his faith (but were the Soviets really Orthodox or just Communists ?). Vladivostok would be ripe for the taking.
But all occupied as he was by the situation in Brazil, he let his fleet be surprised by Soviet submarines, and one battleship was very heavily damaged :

But what really, really worried him for the future was the status of his coalition, versus the status of the enemy coalition :
- Netherlands had... renounced. It was still there, the Royal Dutch Cascaron was still yielding profits (10K oil daily)...

... but the Dutch industry had totally stopped modernizing, no more troops really were produced, the troop movement were careful. The whole Borneo island had been seized by the English, as was most of the Dutch Guyana.
But then, the Savior had never expected THAT much from the Dutch.
- Canada was still... Canada. Industrialized, some aggressive movement in Asia, but in strong concentrated force, taking positions, but nothing around them. Progress was very slow. Canada was still considered reliable, but not as able to be an engine or a pillar in any way.
- Australia was the most worrying. Yesterday the engine of the coalition, it had stopped doing ANYTHING in Eurasia, only given shy orders in South America. Way, way, way more telltale, it was building bunkers in ALL its core cities, and expanding its fleet even though opposition had no more ships. If the ships were not useful against the enemy coalition... what was their purpose ?

Yesterday buzzing with activity, the South-East Pacific is now a dead zone, with only an handful of Dominican... and AI English (!) ships transiting
Was Australia going to defect ? Was Australia going to try to dominate the world alone ? This was extremely worrying.
All the more since there was this silence... always :

To be clear : there had been more talking to Persia than to all the coalition combined in those last days...
Speaking of the enemy coalition, it had become stronger, and had anniliated Germany in two days !

This meant clearly that the coalition could implode at any moment. Preparation had to be started :
- Australia was strong in planes, include seaplanes. To counter this, the Savior built exactly 10 cruisers. It only took a few hours, but they were pretty terrible cruisers. Now they were build, the Savior knew he could modernize them, as soon as he would know how to modernize them.
- Australia also had bombers and paratroopers. The HDE could not match these, but it could try to neutralize them. For this reason, the HDE started to build a fleet of fighters, that would similarly be modernized... later. Sadly, there was not an economy strong enough to have more than fighters.
- The Savior knew he could not defend India, so the industrialisation of India was fully halted. Even the one in Japan could only be done for the most exceptional case.
You gotta be kidding me with that kd ratio.

My doctrine was "hug the coast, rely on the BB, don't defend but move toward the coast if in pursuit". There was 0 melee except the one with the tank at the beginning. All the other loses were :
- Cleaning up the enemy fleet at the beginning,
- Air force or rocket attacks,
- Artillery (exceptionally, there were very few),
Brazil is particular because out of 13 cities, 11 are on the coast - if you hold them the rest is just a game of patience even with very limited force.
Some inspiration for my South Africa game right now, where my future largest rival with be Japan. Do you mostly upgrade your bbs before other naval units first Chimere, or do you try to go for a more balanced approach?

i'd advise the upgrading of transports and battleships, also subs and destroyers.
First upgrade subs and battleships then destroyers and transports

It really depends to the overall situation.Little Racoon wrote:

If most of your enemies are AI or if you don't expect too much planes, cruisers won't be prio.
If you expect to face a more powerful navy than you, then destroyers first, then BB. Your BB alone won't win, fast destroyers will allow them to escape battles you don't want and force him to concentrate.
Also, building cheap BB than upgrading them is saving WAY more time than doing everything properly, as a smaller nation this is the way.
If you expect to face a weak navy, destroyers up to level 3 (so you see really most submarines), then BB all the way.
In my opinion, if you are using transport, ALSO upgrade them to the max as an early priority. As you can see in this Let's Play, despite a terrible economy it was one of my first priorities.
- If you are powerful on the sea, probably you have less troops so you don't want to have a large part of them stuck in transit (or allocated to the wrong front),
- If you are weak on the sea, then you need to minimize the time spent thhere,
exactly what i want to say Chimere! You should be a Wall Street billionaire and author or something
