Do you use the "name Battleship/Railroad Gun/Aircraft carriers" feature

… and if so, what names do you use.

I generally use name to announce my attention or my diplomatic alignment, so "Peace in Africa", "Friendship with Morocco" "Coalition to Victory".

In one casem I found myself at war with a former coalition member, and the BB "Friendship with Morocco" found itself engaging Moroccan transports :).

What about you ?

It depends on my mood. Sometimes I like to just give them random numbers, Like I start with 1, but might skip some, leaving me with units numbered 1, 4, 6, 9 , 11, 13,19, etc.

So someone might think I have built 19 railroad guns, when I really only built 7.

For atomic weapons I sometimes use a theme such as “judgement day” or “ day of reckoning” and various words that fit such as karma, kismet, or destiny.

Naturally if I am out for revenge a series of “reciprocity” “vengeance is mine”, and what’s good for the goose...” will come into play

In the specific case of the US, I used Presidents' names for Battleships. Another alternative would be to use names of provinces. In the case of railroad guns, I use the name of a city or province and add words like thunder or lightning ... 8)

I like to make cool names for them. I know it’s a stretch but it would be cool if you could name stacks, or even all of the individual units.

Save the goldfish! They need your help! Goldfish are trapped in small bowls all across the globe!

I usually name my ships something along the lines of 'HMS Krestel' or something like that

I always name my stuff after cars. Let all shake beneath the might of my powerful 2007 Nissan Versa

I name them based on my mood. Sometimes I do the skip numbering routine mostly with atomics. With the ships I do puns, or super heros or sometimes cartoon characters.

Minor kicks and chuckles for the game.

I usually name them in Latin names and letters. I always name my first nuke "principio ad finem" the beginning to the end :D .

im a fan of the Halo franchise so i name my battleships mostly according to names given to the Covenant ships in the halo games (High Charity, Long night of Solace, Holy Respite, Shadow of Intent), Enduring Conviction) and if i have a large fleet comprising of multiple ships (Fleet of Sacred Concecration, Fleet of Furious Redemption, Fleet of Retribution)

just to give a few examples.

nukes or railwayguns i rarely give names to

I name it with Greek Mythology and Celebrity cruises name because I am a fan of it and the names are just fun to use.

All my Battleships are a variation Of "Boom"....

Shaka-laka-Boom-Boom

Boom Diggety

Boom Boom Long Time

Carriers are some variation of;

Hornet's Nest

Buzznato

Fly Catcher

Nukes...

I have used names like "Peacekeeper" and "Defender" for BB. "Little Boy" for a nuke.

My favorite experience with unit naming was when playing as Ethiopia. Quebec named a battleship "F*** Ethiopia" --- was so satisfying to kill it. :)

Wouldn't it be easier to report it? lol

I normally name mine after conquerd provinces, one time I just anchored my fleet in the English channel and in about 1 hour, 30 convoys were dispatched to Davy jones locker.

Same, naval units give auto recommendation for names and I will just follow the recommendation. If there is no recommendation I will just find a random city and name it. I find that really find to do as that is a really realistic part of the game.

I used it only the first few times :D

after that just let the auto generated names do the job, bit to bothersome to name every battleship indivdually if you produce a ton of them ^^

They auto generate for naval units but for the nukes, they do not

I use USNC names for my ships as well. For railway guns I like comical, pop culturish names like”Boom Stick” or “Louisville Slugger”.

I definitely name my battleships & carriers. Always have a naming theme, depending on the nation I am playing or what hits my fancy. My first few nukes get names, but later ones no.

One sad thing about CoW is that unlike sister game Supremacy, you can't change titles, names or flags of your nation. Makes roleplaying more fun. Yes people will do silly or offensive things, but most of us won't. Just my 2 Goldmarks opinion.

i name them barracks, armored car or industrial centres or something like that so less careful or new players will think i have built some kind of normal building or unit.
