Espionage is underrated

i think spies are decently a good way to frustrate an enemy especially in the early game and its hard to detect since i encountered noone actually using them

I'll agree they are useful in some instances. In my opinion you don't want espionage to be too large a percentage of your income. So they are most useful when you're a large country like USA or France in the Historical WW2 Map. Still useful in the standard maps but mostly in the later stage of the game. Move around spies every day to avoid detection.

Important use cases from my campaigns:

- Military sabotage can be important to reveal enemy armies

- military espionage can be important to destroy an airfield and help to get air superiority. Usually rockets are the superior choice though

- Economic sabotage can be a good idea in the core provinces if the enemy built industry and doesn't use spies.

- I'll often put antiespionage in my core cities to economic sabotage or in my main airfield - if I know my enemy is using spies. Read and search the newspaper to see if there are any explosions or stolen taxes

Was just in a game, where coalition partner and my were putting out spies for intelligence. The opponents entire army was revealed one day and then his partners entire army was revealed the next. Is that like the lottery win on intelligence spying?

Or was my partner spending gold and I got the shared intelligence?

Is that what can happen to me? Just doesn't seem right. Was major factor in our win.

Actually it is not too hard to get a reveal-all. Place 4 sabotage spies in a province without ANY buildings (so they can't actually do their sabotage jobs), and you have an estimated 60-70% chance to get one. It is also the best possible use of espionage.

My coalition partner and the top person on theirs were really experienced good players. Reading the newspaper I saw my partner captured 5 of the other persons spys in one place. So they both were in the know I guess. My god, I had no idea.

Oh well, whether it be gold, or it be cash for spys, I won't assume surprise. When I'm rolling in dough a few weeks into a game I will remember that one. Thank you

Yea always found it weird how you could reveal 200 units across multiple continents with just luck. It just feels so unfairly cheap. I wouldn't mind if they nerf it.
