Let's hope they have some games where no buying gold is allowed and/or a limit put in place for a game.
Btw I ran into a super player latest game.
Any idea what his secret is to get such a great record?

The "operations" thing last year was a testing ground for the future of monetizing; people not buying lump "gold" anymore, but booster packs instead. I dunno what the conclusions were of course, Bytro doesn't share those... but it is very quiet on the operations front, lately.

Gold can work wonders, right?

I'm not speaking for Bytro but what I can understand is that the "future of Gold" is here to stay it's going nowhere... live with it... love it or hate it,buy it or slate it...
But @Phillip Bosley it would be interesting to know if you have plans about the future of Gold.If Bytro does not have any future plans what's your plans? What would you like to achieve since you ask the question. What plans should Bytro have for the future of Gold?

I was wondering if Bytro was planning on implementing game changes/overhauls regarding how Gold is used in the game. Maybe there will be new ways to spend gold, maybe we get more kinds of boosters, that stuff.

Bytro has recently scaled back the espionage options available with gold.

Yes. Maybe they will be replaced by new/more Gold options in other departments in the near future.

As someone who played both sides of the gold game (whale- gnat) I think gold is just part of the game

I must vehemently request that games without Gold be allowed. I would personally be willing to spend some gold just to play in a game that didn't allow it. At the very least, Bytro should allow people to create custom games that disallow the use of Gold, even if such a feature itself required Gold to unlock.
Hey Bytro, if your listening, your missing out on a opportunity here! There is a big demand for people who want to play in games without Gold. If you allow the creation of games where players know they are playing on a even and fair battleground, they will actually want to play more and will even pay to do so. Don't just cater to those "willing to gold." Cater also to those that want to play on a fair and even battleground.

This could be one of the most common requests on these forums. I personally agree with you.
Bytro does allow some games of Call of War to be played without gold/cards, and these games generally organize on various discord servers. If you go to the main Call of War discord server, you can find some of these groups advertising. I myself am on the admin team of a group in the final stages of getting Bytro approval. I'll warn you, the gold free games are not for the faint of heart. Many things newer players see competitive players doing, they mistakenly attribute that to gold. But at the same time, Bytro's effort to monetize this game really makes it unplayable as a strategy game on regular maps.
It's simply a business decision. Unfortunately, Bytro sees more potential in continuing their pay for advantages in what is a free to play business model. I also wish they saw more potential to monetize this from players who want to play this as a genuine strategy game and pay to compete on a level playing field.
The gold/card free games that do organize are all through the work of volunteers to conduct gold checks and otherwise organize. If Bytro doesn't value the work of their volunteers enough to make a version of the game where gold use is not possible, they're not going to make one based on requests like this.

Wonβt happen. Been suggested a zillion times. Not profitable for Bytro.

The fact that its been suggested a "zillion times" would seem to indicate that there is profit being left on the table here.(Rather than being unprofitable, they are in fact losing profits by not listening to suggestions.) Imagine if people kept going into a flower shop and said they want purchase cacti. Well, it would make a lot of sense for the shop to look into getting cacti to sell, so they could both serve their customers and make more profit.
Of course, there could be things were missing here. Maybe Bytro is too "work-shy" or they lack the capability and/or motivation to update their game or maybe making this update would be expensive? How hard could it really be to change things so that Gold couldn't be used?
Ok, I'm gonna rant now, looking at things from Bytro's perspective, I could see why they would be hesitant to change things. People who purchase Gold may become frustrated or confused if they found themselves in a game where the Gold they bought using real money was longer usable. The last thing we would want to do is upset Gold users after-all. Further, it would be somewhat odd to have to pay Gold just to play in a game where it wasn't allowed. In theory, this should already be an included free feature where games could be customized so they didn't allow Gold. Perhaps, Bytro is so concerned about alienating Gold users that they don't even want to suggest that it's somehow unfair or unnecessary to use Gold.
However, these are all fairly weak concerns in my mind. There apparently is a market for non-gold games. Why not include the feature to create custom games without Gold from the premium subscription? You would get more subscribers and grow the player base.
For now, I will give Bytro the benefit of the doubt and assume that it would be a lot of trouble updating the game's code to allow for non-gold games to exist. However, considering the apparent interest, there should at least be some official way to create a custom game where gold isn't allowed.

Bytro employs people who have University degrees in monetizing these kind of games. They have decided that this is the best model for them, while being fully aware of the fan base they could build if they removed coining to a certain degree. And unless you have a similar degree (I certainly don't), I suppose you can't really criticize their decisions.
And besides, what you want is already happening. Bytro is giving more and more liberties to the community to run gold-free tournaments in social groups, mainly on discord. These games are checked for gold and boosters, and any player who uses it is disqualified from the event.
Look for those, there are many groups like it. Maybe they are Bytro's answer to all these gold-free requests like yours.
I should warn you though. These games are not for the faint of heart, and average player quality is MUCH higher than on any random map. Even if you're used to winning your 100p maps, there's no guarantee that your ass won't be wiped in an event game.

Well the way to become a better player is to play better players. I learn a lot when I lose. Will be looking for those games
