Hi is there a limit to how long a game lasts or is the winning points requirement the only limit? Reason I'm asking is that everybody quit leaving me the sole player and I'm using it as a sand box at the moment however I've got almost the req. points so if I want to stretch it I would have to kick two unfaithful allies from the team.

Yes, there's an end date, something like 45 days on small maps, maybe more on large maps? I can't recall exactly.
If you're on PC you should be able to find it, maybe back on Day 0 in the newspaper. I'm not on PC so can't verify, unfortunately. I tried and couldn't find it on mobile.
There's also a limit of 14 days of being the only player before stats and achievements stop counting, so if you're truly alone that clock might be ticking too. Just kick out your teammates and have fun for as long as you can.

they will also send a notice in the newspaper that only 3 players are left in the game if all players agree to quit the game will end with all players getting there current status in the game ( if you are in first place you will get first place)without reaching the maximum points for the win

A week or so before the max game days is up there is some timer that pops up showing how much time is left. I'm not sure how many days before the end this starts to show.

Usually the messages show up as the last article in the paper

I don't mean the notice to vote to end the game. I mean the countdown timer that pops up. Say the max days for a game is 40, then around day 33-ish (not sure) there will be a UI notice that the game will end in XX days.
